Walk Off the Earth Lyrics

You laid it out like evidence
Read all the words you never said
Like speeches for the president
I drew your name in wet cement
Made promises in reverence
To save them for your reference
A victim of my circumstance
But oh when you lay your hands on me
I know that I can heal
There's a blinding light
That no one else can see
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
The signatures did finalize
Our pens had found the bottom line
The past that had me paralyzed
And all my future analyzed
Do you think we got it right?
The world will disagree this time
Will it turn a wicked tide?
Or be a ghost that keeps us up at night?
Oh when you lay your hands on me
I know that I can heal
There's a blinding light
That no one else can see
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Will I never know your name
'Cause I want to?
Did you ever care to say
That you want me?
That's all I wanted
Oh when you lay your hands on me
I know that I can heal
There's a blinding light
That no one else can see
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
Oh oh oh oh ooh oh
Nobody no nobody but me
In "Speeches," Walk Off the Earth sings about a relationship that may have ended badly, but the singer is still holding on to feelings of love and hope. The first verse talks about a snowfall that's described as "heaven sent" and how the singer wishes they could have said certain things to their partner, "like speeches for the president." They describe how they made promises, hoping they'd be remembered, but ultimately feels like they're a "victim" of their situation. The second verse talks about signing something that was once looming in the background, possibly making reference to a legal document or a contract, and how it's changed the singer's view of the future. They mention how the world will disagree with their decision and that it may have bigger consequences. The chorus returns, and we're reminded that the singer holds onto hope for their relationship, and that the healing and the blinding light can only come from one person: "Nobody no nobody but me."
Overall, the song portrays a heartfelt longing for a lost relationship, possibly with someone who didn't love them back the same way. Despite the pain, the singer still hopes for reconciliation and healing with the other person.

Love this. And I absolutely LOVE it when Marshall and Sarah sing together. Their voices complement each other's perfectly. Love Gianni's voice, but Sarah and Ryan singing together is perfection!💜
