War Tapes, a Los Angeles 4-piece, successfully creates epic anthems of angst, blending the attitude and edge of today's post-hard-core scene with an appealing nod to 80's new-wave and post-punk. All the while, War Tapes demonstrates a knack for creating huge hooks and sing-a-long choruses. The most notable of these being "my mind is ugly" a self published debute EP.
A band described by critics as a cross between Interpol, AFI and The Cure, they have supported The Bravery, Tiger Army, The Unseen and The Smashing Pumpkins on tour.

The lyrics to War Tapes's song "She Lied" are hauntingly beautiful and reveal a deep sense of heartbreak and betrayal. The song begins with the affirmation that time alone will reveal the truth behind the facade that the singer's girlfriend, now turned corpse, was carrying. The singer seems to be aware of the fact that he was not born with enough innocence to keep coming back for more, which could possibly indicate an unhealthy relationship built on a foundation of lies, making it difficult to trust and love unconditionally.
The chorus of the song, "She must have lied to you, before I had her," is repeated multiple times throughout the song and is a recognition that the supposed truths this girlfriend had shared with her previous lover were built on lies. This revelation is further reinforced by the singer's observations that he spends all day communicating with the dead corpse that he once called his girlfriend, who is now only half of the person he met.
The singer's pain and sense of betrayal intensify as the song moves forward.
