Speed Of Sound
Warlock Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey! pull the trigger
I am your bullet
Going to nowhere
I'm shooting up into the sky
The rhythm..
Accelerator!
This rocket is ready to fly
Good-bye to your slow-creeping days
Nothing will stand in my way!
Racing faster
Breaking out of this mad prison-cell
Faster!
Just like a flash out of hell
Ah speed of sound, metal heat
Atomic speed, set me free!
Speed of sound, treat me right
Sonic speed, set me free!
Red blood and gasoline
We really got to go
This rat-race is getting us down
Child of the rhythm
Don't wait forever..
Tonight is the night!
Racing faster
Breaking out of this mad prison-cell
Faster!
Just like a flash out of hell
Ah speed of sound, metal heat
Sonic speed, set me free!
Speed of sound, treat me right:
Just as fast... as the speed of... light!
Racing faster
Breaking out of this mad prison-cell
Faster!
Just like a flash out of hell
Ah speed of sound, metal heat
Sonic speed, set me free!
Speed of sound, metal heat
Can't you see... how I feel?
Atomic speed... set me free...

Speed of sound...
Just as fast... as the speed of... light!

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of "Speed Of Sound" by Warlock convey a message of power and control with a sense of urgency to break free from the limitations that hold back an individual's potential. The theme of the song relates to the desire for speed, and the singer is invoking the trigger to pull and release the bullet (the singer) that is the same as the rhythm as the accelerator. The lyrics suggest that the bullet is ready to explore and go on a journey to nowhere by shooting up into the sky at a speed that will break out from a slow-creeping life. The singer is ready to move on to an unknown world by breaking out of the prison cell of monotony and starts racing faster towards greatness. The speed of sound is the singer's destination, where the metal heat can set them free.

The lyrics encourage the listener to join the journey, leaving behind the rat race life, and be a child of the rhythm. The message is that success is not waiting forever; one needs to take action here and now. The chorus of the song highlights the singer's desires to move faster and break the barriers of limitation, with the use of poetic language that addresses various aspects of speed: atomic, sonic, and metal heat. The chorus conveys a sense of freedom and liberation as the singer builds momentum at an ever-increasing pace.

I need more of this. Are there any other fast paced songs like this by her? The only other one I know is Take no Prisoner

Laylon Veatch

Check out warlock live at eindhoven, '84, she did two shows there that year. Both are fast and badass, she did a better job on the second one. Red light star, wildfire, and dark fade are just killer, but for some reason she didn't perform them anymore after she got famous. Slayer used the rythm of dark fade in the fast part of the song 213

Hellbound, Always live to win, Bastardos!!!!
