Move Me
Watkins Sara Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every step's been shown to you
Like all those years in school
What they said is what you say
What they saw is what you see
You like a clear drawn line, partitioned and defined
So you can rest in knowing everything is as it should be

But I want you to move me
Want you to move me
I want you to move me

We've got our back and forth
We always stay the corse
Talking quickly doesn't leave much time for questioning
So much is repetition
We mimic old decisions
And walk the same path
Just because we know where it will lead

But I want you to move me
Want you to move me
I want you to move me
Want you to move me
But you just keep the peace

I won't give you all I got
Cause I fear you'll disapprove
Underlined and open eyes
The heart will follow through
Take you up and bring you back
But you will not be moved

But I want you to move me
Want you to move me
I want you to move me
Want you to move me, move me
I want you to move me

Want you to move me
I want you to move me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Watkins Sara's song "Move Me" are a beautiful reflection on the desire for intimacy and vulnerability in a relationship. The first verse of the song speaks to a person who values structure and clear boundaries. They have been taught to see and repeat what they were told or shown, which makes them feel comfortable and in control. The chorus, however, reveals the singer's desire for the person to "move" her, indicating that she wants to be deeply affected by their presence and actions.

The second verse continues by describing the familiar routine of a relationship, where communication is fast and repetitive, and decisions are made based on past habit rather than curiosity and exploration. The singer wants to break free from this cycle, but the other person is content with maintaining the status quo. The line "But you just keep the peace" suggests that the desire to maintain stability and avoid conflict is getting in the way of growth and connection.

The bridge of the song acknowledges that the singer is afraid of rejection and withholding some of herself because of the fear that the other person will disapprove. However, she also recognizes the power of the heart to follow through, indicating that she is willing to take a chance and open up if the other person will meet her halfway.

Overall, Watkins Sara's "Move Me" is a heartfelt plea for deeper emotional connection in a relationship. The song draws attention to the importance of vulnerability, intimacy, and openness in order to truly "move" someone else and create a meaningful bond.

The last time I heard such powerful vocals was Johnette Napolitano singing Joey. Completely different song, but I am so glad to find a singer songwriter like Sara. I look forward to more of her.

This song randomly played on my phone & something told me to sit and listen. I followed the lyrics on Apple Music and it wasn’t long before i realized the lyrics were a message from my higher self.

Everything i want is at my finger tips, i can have it all but my future self needs me. I’ve got to take the steps.

I’ve got to take the steps to branch off from the life society or my upbringing created for me. I’ve got to tap in and create the life that I want. Take steps I need to take toward my definition of happiness. My future self is tired of being put on pause. Ive given up on myself soooo many times that its time to get consistent. When I give up on myself, I reject my happiness. The outside can no longer influence the relationship i have with myself. Time to move “me” closer to “my” happiness. 🤍
