The Edge
Waze & Odyssey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
For refusing, to compromise
Somehow someway, I still survive
I'm coming for you, you're next in line
No way you'll get out of this
Your life slips down the razor's edge
I won't be the martyr and I won't play this game
Time is running out for you fast
This castle of lies is not gonna last
Fate has its way of kicking your teeth
What will you do? My vengeance is complete
Spiraling downwards again
Walking on the razor's edge
Wheels of hell stare death in the face
Cycle of pain, ends in disgrace
Six feet under we bury the past
Point of no return, the hate we've amassed
Run like hell on the razors edge
We break this oath, our solemn pledge
The lyrics of "The Edge" by Waze & Odyssey depict a narrative of resilience and retribution in the face of betrayal and adversity. The singer opens by describing themselves as "beaten down, left to die" for standing their ground and refusing to compromise their principles. Despite the challenges they face, they proclaim their survival and determination to seek justice against those who have wronged them, declaring "I'm coming for you, you're next in line."
The theme of confrontation and confrontation runs throughout the song, as the singer asserts that their target will not escape the consequences of their actions. The imagery of life slipping down the razor's edge conveys the precariousness and imminent danger of the situation, suggesting that a reckoning is inevitable.
The lyrics also explore the theme of mental anguish and the toll of holding out hope in a tumultuous situation, with the singer acknowledging the potential for hope to drive a person to the brink of madness. They express a refusal to be a martyr or to engage in a futile game, highlighting a sense of agency and self-preservation in the face of adversity.
As the song progresses, the sense of impending retribution intensifies, with the singer warning that time is running out for their target and that the facade of lies they have constructed is about to crumble. The imagery of spiraling downwards and walking on the razor's edge illustrates the precariousness of the situation and the inevitability of a dramatic confrontation.
In the final verses, the lyrics evoke themes of finality and closure, as the singer alludes to a cycle of pain and hatred that culminates in a decisive break from the past. The imagery of burying the past six feet under and reaching a point of no return reflects a sense of irreversible change and the release of pent-up anger and retribution. The song closes with a sense of defiance and liberation, as the singer breaks free from a destructive oath and embraces a new beginning.
