Bury Me Alive
We Are the Fallen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's no use in crying
All my tears won't drown my pain
Free me from your sorrow
I can't grieve you again
I watched you let yourself die
And now it's too late to save you this time

You bury me alive
And everybody's gotta breathe
Somehow don't leave me, die
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies

All I did was love you
Now I hate the nightmare you've become
I can't let you fool me
I won't need you again
I watched you let yourself die
And now it's too late to save you this time

You bury me alive
And everybody's gotta breathe
Somehow don't leave me, die
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies
And everybody's gotta breathe
Somehow don't leave me, die
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies

Make me feel this love we used to hold
All I see is black and cold
As I try to pull you down
To the ground, the ground

And everybody's gotta breathe
Somehow don't leave me, die
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies
(you bury me alive)
And everybody's gotta breathe

Somehow don't leave me, die
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to We Are the Fallen's song "Bury Me Alive" describe an intense, complex relationship between two individuals. The singer is expressing her pain and frustration with a person who has caused her immense grief, possibly a former lover or friend. She acknowledges that her tears cannot erase the pain inflicted upon her by this person and seeks to break free from their sorrow.

The singer reflects on how she watched this person self-destruct, but now it's too late to save them. The phrase "you bury me alive" seems to suggest that the other person's actions are suffocating and overwhelming, leaving the singer feeling trapped and buried alive. The repetition of the line "everybody's gotta breathe" emphasizes the desperate need for space and air in this situation.

As the song progresses, the singer expresses her conflicting emotions towards the other person. She once loved them deeply, but now hates the "nightmare" they have become. She refuses to be fooled by them again and declares that she does not need them any longer. However, she still longs for the love they once shared, as evidenced by the plea to "make me feel this love we used to hold." The final line "too consumed by your own emptiness and lies" suggests that the person's toxic behavior has stemmed from their own deep emotional pain and inability to be genuine.

LYRICS:
There's no use in crying,
All my tears won't drown my pain,
Free me from your sorrow,
I can't grieve you again.

I watched you let yourself die,
Now it's too late to save you this time.

You bury me alive,
And everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies.

All I did was love you,
Now I hate the nightmare you've become,
I can't let you fool me,
I won't need you again.

I watched you let yourself die,
Now it's too late to save you this time.

You bury me alive,
And everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies.

You bury me alive,
And everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies.

Make me feel this love we used to hold,
All I see is black and cold,
As I try to pull you down to the ground, the ground.

Everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
You're too consumed by all your emptiness inside.

You bury me alive,
And everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies.

You bury me alive,
And everybody's gotta breathe somehow,
Don't leave me to die,
Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies.

@marvelstan_0114 Carly has an incredible vocal technique and is always in tune live!! She sounds even better live than recorded, her belting technique is great, she has a perfect control of her chest voice!
There are many famous rock singers that master the studio recordings but they lack the live skills. Carly is great live and really in tune live!!
Amy..changes live and is weak, breathless, her voice techniques are awful!! She records with thousand of back vocals, but live.. she loses the breath and power.
Enjoy :

(She gets lot of credit because of the brand name ''ev''and also she uses and abuses the musicians she works with and then fires them via text..)
She uses an amazing sound system with thousands of back vocals. It is common knowledge that she is horrible when she's live... She is screaming and straining. Her breathing technique is deficient, her voice cracks frequently, and sounds too nasal. She always sounded horrible live, even when she was younger. She just got worse as the years passed. She is for the studio and can sing live only in front of a piano!
She's nothing compared to European female metal singers, is overrated, and her voice is a C- at best.
What I find annoying is when fans want to say that Amy Lee is sick in all her concerts, or she's just tired, or she just... had a bad day. Does Amy Lee have an over abundance of bad days compared to every other rock singer? Also i have seen some ladies in the rock genre kick major ass live, and they do everything Amy does and more (running, head banging, jumping etc).
Ev also don't sell records, their label dropped them in year 2013 and the question is who pusses money now for them.
Amy destroyed her band's future because of her big ego. "Ev" now is a small band comparing to other bands such as Nightwish and Pandera .

@h.a.joubert

This song made me realise how much I've changed since I first found it years ago when I was 13.

I thought it was a twin switcheroo. I took the lyrics literally and the visualisation, that the twin wanted to be her, her life.

I also used this song as a relatable outlet to my father. The song at the time, and right now, makes me think of him.

Being 'killed' by someone because they assume everyone is and should be empty and broken.

(I still hold that view in mind, but the growth in my perception is astounding.)

Now, I see it as laying yourself to rest. Burying your authentic self alive to survive in this empty world, living a lie.

Like burying your inner child, your emotions and feelings, who you really are, to survive.

Which is sadly relatable to everyone. It's what we like to call "growing up" which is essentially dying inside.
Some go through it far too early.... really any age is far too early.

@kraken0107

Carly Smithson had a major stroke a few years back, I never heard anything about her after that than she survived. That's why...

@mark7166

@Shawn King Oh man, that's awful. I hope she's ok.

@@kraken0107 how do you know?

@hellcandyshark

"On January 25, 2022, Carly Smithson revealed on an Instagram comment that Shiprocked 2022 changed their COVID-19 policy to require performers be fully vaccinated, including the additional administering of the booster dosage. She wrote; "There wasn’t enough time for everyone [in the band] to get boosted so a lot of bands couldn’t participate." In addition, she noted that We Are The Fallen would play in 2023 along with land shows prior." via the wikipedia where we are the fallen is listed. So maybe they eventually will. As for Carly Smithson, looking her up, there wasn't anything recent that was super concerning, I thought, but I am not completely awake. xD;; It did say she had a daughter, too, on top with working with Cirque Du Soleil I think? For the Band's wikipedia, it did say Ben Moody posted a video in regards to the future of the band on his YT page, so check there, worst case, I guess. I'd hope they make more stuff. I've been wondering about them too. <3
