In April 2009, We Are the In Crowd's Myspace page was hacked. The hacker deleted all of their friends and music. The music site Absolutepunk.net posted a news article regarding the hacking, and the news post attracted the attention of someone at Hopeless Records who contacted the band shortly after. On November 10, 2009, the group announced their signing with Hopeless Records as "The In Crowd" and released their first single "For the Win" on iTunes. The band changed their name to "We Are the In Crowd" due to trademark issues with a reggae band from the seventies who were also called "The In Crowd"
In February 2009, We Are the In Crowd recorded their debut Hopeless Records EP with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Jimmy Eat World, Cartel). The EP, titled Guaranteed To Disagree, was released on June 8, 2010.
The music video for "Both Sides of the Story" was officially released on October 15, 2010. The music video for "Never Be What You Want" was released on April 20, 2011. The band performed on the Vans Warped Tour for Summer 2010.
The band entered the studio in early May 2011 to begin recording their full length debut. On August 3, 2011 it was announced the album would be titled Best Intentions and that it would be released on October 4. It debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at No. 122.

You've Got It Made
We Are the In Crowd Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My home says so little now.
Everyone's gone in mind.
And I paint myself in a corner.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
Tell me are you happy now?
Tell me did it all work out?
It's too late.
It's too late.
But, do you feel the same?
I reach out to you for help.
I see myself in envy or do I admire how happy you are?
Either way I'd walk in your shoes.
But, she fits them better
She fits them better than...
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
I'd love to be you so I don't have to feel this way.
Tell me are you happy now?
Tell me did it all work out?
It's too late.
It's too late.
But, do you feel the same?
Do you feel the same?
As my life hangs from a string.
And you have grabbed the scissors.
Was it just a summer fling?
As these flowers start to wither.
And no matter what I think.
As you will make decisions.
And I can't even blink cause I lost all my ambitions.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
I'd love to be you so I don't have to feel.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
You've got it made.
I'd love to be you so I don't have to feel this pain.
Tell me are you happy now?
Tell me did it all work out?
It's too late.
It's too late.
But, do you feel the same?
She fits them better than.
She fits them better than me.
Do you feel the same?
The lyrics to We Are the In Crowd's "You've Got It Made" explore feelings of envy and inadequacy towards another person who seems to have it all figured out. The singer is struggling with insomnia and a sense of loneliness in their home, which no longer feels like a comforting space. The repetition of the phrase "you've got it made" emphasizes the contrast between the singer's struggles and the seemingly effortless life of the person they are addressing. The lines "I'd love to be you so I don't have to feel this way" and "Either way I'd walk in your shoes. But, she fits them better" suggest that the singer is both desiring to be like this person and feeling resentful towards them.
The second verse contains the lines "As my life hangs from a string / And you have grabbed the scissors / Was it just a summer fling? / As these flowers start to wither." These lines could suggest that the singer's life feels precarious and that the other person has control over their fate. The metaphor of withering flowers suggests that the singer's happiness is fading or dying out. The final lines, "Do you feel the same?" reinforce the idea that the person the singer is addressing may not be as happy as they seem.
Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the complexities of envy and the way in which we often assume that others have an easier or more fulfilling life than our own.
