Broken Inside
We as Human Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm not ready yet
To say goodbye to you
So many things that I wanted to do
Like hold you close until you love me too

I don't understand
Just why you're letting go
I know you'd love me if you only knew
I am not a monster growing inside of you

Now I cry, broken inside
Now everything in my world seems wrong
Life is not a game
For boys and girls to play
And simply change the rules
When it don't turn out your way

What gives us the right
To end a child's life?
All your excuses can't remove the pain
That they feel when we decide to take their breath away

So just close your eyes
Pretend they're not alive
But all your lying can't destroy the truth
It's babies that we murder with our right to choose

Now I cry, broken inside
Now everything in my world seems wrong
Life is not a game
For boys and girls to play

And simply change the rules
When it don't turn out your way

Overall Meaning

The song "Broken Inside" by We As Human is a heartfelt plea against abortion, with the lyrics describing the anguish and sorrow of a person who is not yet ready to say goodbye to their unborn child. The song is written from the perspective of a father or a would-be father, who is dismayed by the decision of his partner to abort their baby, and is struggling to come to terms with the loss.

The opening lines of the song convey the singer's emotional turmoil, as he expresses his reluctance to let go of his child, and his desire to hold on to his partner until she reciprocates his love. The subsequent verses delve deeper into the reasons why the singer cannot fathom the idea of a terminated pregnancy, as he questions the logic behind letting go of a life that is growing inside of you, and wonders why some people believe they have the right to end a child's life.

The chorus of the song features the poignant refrains of "Now I cry, broken inside", sung with a deep sense of pain and disillusionment. The lyrics reflect the shattered dreams and hopes of the singer, who has come to realize that life is not a frivolous game to be played by and with others. Moreover, the closing lines of the song suggest that the "right to choose" should not be confused with the right to kill, as the truth cannot be hidden or suppressed by any amount of deceit or rationalization.

He's not wrong! When u think about it whether u view a fetus at the beginning as a clump of cells or not they are going to become a human and therefore they are a baby and a person and thereby u are murdering a baby with this whole women's right to choose bs.

@DarhkAngel

Dude I listen to this song every now then just because I like how deep it is. I lost a child to a miscarriage and kills me like actually kills me to see when someone does this. Like if you don’t want your child I will gladly take your place.

@WeAsHumanFan wow so i'm pretty much in tears right now, my sister was pregnant and she ran away, we got an email maybe 5 months later and she mentioned that she was no longer pregnant but it was not long enough for the child to have been born, to this day we don't know if she had a miscarage or if it was an abortion, but listening to this reminded me that even if she did have one God still loves her and He loves her kid too. So i guess i'm just saying thanks for posting this its helping me cope
