Weavers The Lyrics

Of those who've gone before
And we'll all be reunited,
On a new and sunlit shore,
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Oh Lord how I want to be in that number
When the, saints go marching in
And when the sun begins to shine
Oh Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the sun begins to shine
Oh, when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh, when the trumpet sounds the call
Lord, how I want to be in that number
When the trumpet sounds the call
Some say this world of trouble
Is the only one we need
But I'm waiting for that morning
When the new one is revealed
Oh, when the new one is revealed
Oh, when the new one is revealed
Oh Lord, I want to be in that number
When the new one is revealed
Oh, when the saints go marching in,
Oh, when the saints go marching in
Lord how I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
The Weavers' song "When the Saints Go Marching In" is a spiritual song that speaks of a longing to be united with those who have come before and to be a part of the great gathering in the afterlife. The first stanza speaks of the desire to follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before and to be reunited with them on a new and sunlit shore. It speaks to the idea that we are all on a journey and that we are following in the footsteps of those who have come before us. The chorus echoes the desire to be in that number of saints who have gone before and who will be reunited in the afterlife. This longing can be seen as a spiritual desire to be part of something larger than oneself and to be reunited with loved ones who have passed.
The second stanza speaks of the idea that this world of trouble is not the only one and that there is another world waiting for us. This world is seen as a temporary place, and the desire is to be ready for the new one when it is revealed. The chorus again echoes the desire to be part of that number when the new world is revealed. The final stanza speaks of the longing to hear the trumpet sound, which is seen as a call to the great gathering. Again, the desire is to be part of that number when the trumpet sounds.
Overall, the song can be seen as a longing for something greater than oneself and a desire to be reunited with those who have passed before. It speaks to the human desire for connection and the idea that we are all part of a larger community.

They probably broke up as a group before you were born ....

Had a number of top rated hits in 1950, 51 & 52. They are still a legend in the early folk scene and musical trendsetters of their day.

@Robert11xyz Had to be after WW2, Pete Seeger was in the Army during the war. I think the weavers formed in 1948 or 49.

This is absolutely great. What year was this? Is this the last live video recording of Eric Darling?
@dmbirkeland
This was a tribute(Isn't this a Time) to long time manager Harold Leventhal in 2003. The 1980 reunion concert, Wasn't that a time, did not have Arlo Guthrie as an MC, nor did it have Eric darling. Lee Hayes died after the 1980 concert.
