Weezer Lyrics

perfect beauty
from toronto
new attraction
or some heartthrob

was it all just a deathtrap,
pulled me in and then shut snaps? stupid.
did it make you
come to get me?
or am i just
going mental?

i am not a pushover.
how did i get run over? stupid.

play like a lil' bitty boy. (play on)
with your grubbery toy (play on)
oh, it's just a matter time (play on)
till the day i'm gonna get mine.

i am not a'

play like'

did it make you
come to get me?
or am i just
going mental? (going mental)
or am i just (or am i just)
going mental? (going mental)
or am i just (or am i just)
going mental? (going mental)
(or am i just)
(going mental)
(or am i just)
(going mental)

i am not'

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Weezer's song Booby Trap seem to be about an individual who has been lured into a trap by someone who is seemingly attractive and new in town. The singer questions whether this attraction was all part of a trap and how they got themselves into it. They feel as though they are not a pushover, yet they were run over nonetheless. The final lines of the song repeat the phrases "did it make you come to get me?" and "or am I just going mental?" suggesting that the singer is questioning their own sanity and whether they were actually willingly lured into this trap or not.

The lyrics make use of playful language and wordplay, with phrases such as "grubbery toy" and "lil' bitty boy" adding to the song's slightly surreal and whimsical tone. The repetition of "stupid" in the first and second verses also adds to this slightly manic feel, as does the repetition of the "going mental" line towards the end. Overall, the song seems to be about feeling trapped and questioning one's own sanity in the face of manipulation and attraction.

Fellow Weezer fans I want to pose a question. Please respond with actual answers and not mere likes, ok? If Rivers invited you into his secret "Bat Cave" of unreleased material, what would you think, do, act, or feel? :-). My answer is I would offer him and his family my services as a personal servant for 2 years in exchange for copies of everything lol (P.S. You might see this question posted on many Weezer videos because I'm really interested to find answers. I'm not here to annoy anyone--I'm not a bot or troll or whatever :)

Why do people dislike Make Believe so much? The only songs you guys hate are Beverly Hills and We Are All On Drugs.
