One month after the formation of Welbilt, Washington, DC radio station DC 101 singled out them out as the most promising independent band in the region on the strength of a self-produced 2002 EP sometimes called "The Blue EP" (Blue) The basement recording was evidence of what DC 101 called a contagious brand of upbeat modern rock, and together with blistering live performances, Welbilt had hooked the radio station. Next: a string of high-profile shows and national awards, a year of touring before an expanding fan base, and recording sessions in Los Angeles with platinum-selling producer Mudrock (Godsmack, Chimaira).
The resulting full-length debut, A Beautiful Mess, was released in December 2003 to a big thumbs-up from fans and critics. "Impressive songwriting...convincing vocals...sonically vibrant" raved the Washington Post, saying "Welbilt delivers on its promise." Fans loved the new tunes, instantly accessible yet built to stand up over time.
Welbilt spent 2004 touring behind A Beautiful Mess with the support of Budweiser True Music and the fans who make it all possible.
In September 2005 the band released their second EP entitled Due To The Current State of Things, containing four brand new tracks including the ever-popular Oxygen. Welbilt continues to play the DC and Virginia areas, especially having become a local favorite and weekly fixture at the Fairfax, VA bar TT Reynolds where the band members originally met. The band has also extended its popularity up and down the east coast, also having become a favorite performer amongst students at the Quadrangle Club at Princeton University in New Jersey. In Spring 2007 they opened there for Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish. They played their last show at Quadrangle Club on January 15, 2008.
While the band has technically broken up, they still have a few shows planned for January 2008.
The band would like to send their love and gratitude and a heartfelt bear hug to each and every fan and supporter as they continue on their successful journey.

Talking to me no and I don't know where all the words go
She lighting fires burnin underneath my chair
But all she wants to know is if I ever cared.
She walk into me in this blazing red crescendo and she
Talking so sweetly no and
I don't know my head from the tip of my toes and now
I'm walking with another lady tonight
Check it out'..
Chorus
Got one up in the air (the air)
While the other falls down
Holding one above the water
While the other one drowns
If my lover found out
The hole I'm digging I can keep
It's only been half of a week
And I'm already five feet deep
She looking at me like she want to hold me close and now
She's kissing at my neck, starts tearing off my clothes, won't you
Put your ring on the table, use this time we've borrowed
And return back to our others hearts tomorrow
She making love like she don't want to go back home and a
She holding on a like she a been a long long time alone
Just got to see another night, another night
Just got to let go cause I know it isn't right
and I'm losing the fight.
Chorus
Got one up in the air (the air)
While the other falls down
Holding one above the water
While the other one drowns
If my lover found out
The hole I'm digging I can keep
It's only been half of a week
And I'm already five feet deep
It's only been half of a week
And I'm already five feet deep
(Repeat 3 times to end)
The song "Digging Holes" by Welbilt is a reflection on infidelity and the guilt that often comes with it. The lyrics paint a picture of a man who is torn between two lovers, one of whom he is with at the moment while the other is constantly on his mind. The opening lines describe the sensual allure of the second woman, who is represented by the blazing red crescendo. Her words are confusing and bewitching, and she seems to be lighting fires under the singer's feet.
The chorus then describes the singer's dilemma. He is "holding one above the water while the other one drowns", meaning that he is trying to keep both relationships afloat while feeling like he is sinking deeper and deeper into a hole of his own making. He knows that what he is doing is wrong, but he can't seem to stop himself.
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's affair. The second woman is portrayed as someone who is aching for intimacy and human connection. She seems to be clinging to the singer as if he is the only thing that can save her from loneliness. The singer, in turn, is depicted as someone who is fighting a losing battle. He knows that what he is doing is selfish, and he is aware of the damage it could cause to both himself and his partners. The song ends on a note of hopelessness, with the singer buried five feet deep in his own guilt.
Overall, "Digging Holes" is a poignant exploration of the emotional complexities of infidelity. The lyrics are evocative and raw, and the melody is hauntingly beautiful. It is a song that will resonate with anyone who has ever been caught in the tangled web of multiple relationships.
