Western Jazz Band Lyrics

Mapenzi yetu yamekuwa ni hasara Rosa
Mganga aliyekupa dawa ni adui yangu mama
Penzi ulilotaka si penzi mwenzangu eeh
Dawa aliyokupa ni sumu mwenzangu eeh
Hivyo ndivyo ulivyotaka toa roho yangu
Nini ulichokosa kutaka kuniua Rosa?
Nilikuwa ninakupa mshahara wangu wote
Hio haikutosha mpaka wanitesa Rosa

Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa Mama
(Acha ubaya Rosa).

Mapenzi yetu yamekuwa ni hasara Rosa
Mganga aliyekupa dawa ni adui yangu mama
Penzi ulilotaka si penzi mwenzangu eeh
Dawa aliyokupa ni sumu mwenzangu eeh
Hivyo ndivyo ulivyotaka toa roho yangu
Nini ulichokosa kutaka kuniua Rosa?
Nilikuwa ninakupa mshahara wangu wote
Hio haikutosha mpaka wanitesa Rosa

Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa Mama (he he he)

(Ndio ndio ndio ndio...)
(Rosa acha kuniua mama
Watu wanataka kusikia saboso ya mwaka 73
Kweli kweli kweli Rosa mbaya
Wacha uchawi)
(Rosaaa)
(He he eheee Rosa Maamaa)

Mapenzi yetu yamekuwa ni hasara Rosa
Mganga aliyekupa dawa ni adui yangu mama
Penzi ulilotaka si penzi mwenzangu eeh
Dawa aliyokupa ni sumu mwenzangu eeh
Hivyo ndivyo ulivyotaka toa roho yangu
Nini ulichokosa kutaka kuniua Rosa?
Nilikuwa ninakupa mshahara wangu wote
Hio haikutosha mpaka wanitesa Rosa

Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa, Eeh Rosa Mama

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Western Jazz Band's song Rosa tell a story of a failed love affair that has turned out to be a loss for the singer of the song. The chorus of the song repeated several times throughout the song is a plea to Rosa to stop being malicious towards the singer. The song narrates how Rosa's actions have caused the singer much pain and how Rosa's "doctor" is the enemy of the singer. The singer maintains that the love Rosa wanted was not mutual, and the "medicine" that Rosa received was poison to the singer. The singer accuses Rosa of wanting to take away their life and questions what they had done to deserve such malicious intent.

The lyrics reveal that the singer had been giving their all, including their salary, and yet Rosa's actions made them suffer. The line "Hivyo ndivyo ulivyotaka toa roho yangu" translates to "that's how you wanted to take my soul," which shows the severity of the accusations that the singer is making towards Rosa. The song is a lamentation and a plea for Rosa to stop the malicious acts.
