Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song "Guilty" by What Feeds the Fire addresses the prevalent issue of greed in our society. The lyrics open with a call to action, asking listeners to open their eyes and observe the abundance of greed that exists around them. The singer questions how many people will be left behind while others succeed due to their selfishness. The line "living without values" speaks to how our society has become so focused on materialism and success that we have lost sight of what's truly important.
The singer goes on to express frustration and a sense of hopelessness. They suggest that it's time for us as a society to realize the damage we are doing and make a change. The line "no one is willing to change" is particularly poignant, highlighting the resistance to change that exists within our society. The singer acknowledges that we have made progress in some areas, but there is still much work to be done. They encourage us to imagine a world where we all act with kindness and selflessness.
