In a modest rent house in the small East Texas town of Elkhart, Texas, Cody Cannon and Cody Tate began to write music, only dreaming of the success that is sure to follow. They began to incorporate the talent and imagination of friend and guitarist John Jeffers. At that time, they called themselves Lucky Southern, though they had only three members. As time passed, with their inspiration mounting, they moved to Tyler, Texas. There they met up with Jeff Hogg, a mutual friend and drummer from Palestine, Texas, and Gary Brown, a bass guitarist who had grown up in Neches, Texas. They came together and came to be known as Whiskey Myers.
Soon, the group was playing private parties on flatbed trailers in small towns around East Texas. The sound they emitted was something more unique than anyone had expected. From their first show in Montalba, Texas, a young Whiskey Myers was hooked on performing, and the crowds were hooked on them. In the spring of 2007, they were given the opportunity to open for Roger Creager at Gator’s Bar and Grill in Gun Barrel City, Texas. The club owner was so impressed by their performance and the crowd that had come to the stage that he asked them to come back the next weekend to open for The Eli Young Band. From then on, popularity for the band began to swell. They were heard on live stages all over East Texas, in interviews on local radio stations, and seen on television giving live interviews. Suddenly it seemed that the whole region knew who Whiskey Myers was, and everyone was becoming familiar with their high energy twin guitars, soulful vocals, and unstoppable rhythm.
Whiskey Myers’ musical style was forged from several different genres of music from several different eras. The most obvious of these are the blues rock jam bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, and Led Zeppelin. Whiskey Myers takes the blues rock genre and mixes it with modern day Texas Country such as Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers, and Cross Canadian Ragweed to derive a new sound that is sure to take concert listeners on an atmospheric roller coaster. With a sound like no other and a stage presence that captivates anyone close enough to notice, a live concert performed by this young band is something that must be seen to be believed.
The Tyler area has been instrumental in the development of Whiskey Myers from a group of musicians to a band. As the group continues to expand its fan base, new listeners all over Texas are beginning to recognize their talent. They continue to engulf listeners with their sound, ensuring that the name Whiskey Myers is one that will be remembered for ages to come.

Little white church south of Palestine
Baby bump and pretty bouquet
Yeah, I went to work the very next day
Punching that clock working that line
Double shifts and over time
My hands are numb and body's sore
Getting by and wanting more
So many dreams that I ain't showing
So many lives that I can't live
Oh, the years just keep on rolling
And I wish I had so much more to give
Yeah, times get tough but love is strong
Here in this trailer that we call home
She got one on her hip and one on the way
Grocery list and bills to pay
Momma by day and school at night
I tried so hard to get it right
I got dreams. What can I say?
Sometimes life gets in the way
Well, getting by and wanting more
Baby, there ain't no shame in being poor
Yeah, times get tough but love is strong
Here in this trailer that we call home
Yeah, times get tough but we carry on
Here in this trailer that we call home
Here in this trailer that we call home
Here in this trailer that we call home
The song "Trailer We Call Home" by Whiskey Myers portrays the story of a young couple starting their life together. The first verse describes their wedding, with the two kids and a diamond ring. They got married in a little white church south of Palestine, with a baby bump and a pretty bouquet. The couple had to go to work the very next day, punching the clock, and working double shifts and overtime to make ends meet. Their hands are numb and bodies sore, but they are just barely getting by, and they still want more.
The second verse mainly focuses on the woman's struggles as a mother and student. She has one child on her hip and another on the way, along with a never-ending grocery list and bills to pay. Despite all the chaos of being a mother, she persists with her studies, hoping to make a better life for herself and her family. Both of them have many dreams that they aren’t able to follow, and there are so many lives they can’t live. The years keep rolling by, and they both wish that they had more to give.
Overall, the message of the song is one of perseverance and resilience. Times may be tough, but love is strong, and even though they may be poor, they are rich in the love they have for one another. Their trailer may not be much, but it’s the home they’ve built together and where they’ve grown their love and their family.

Got my girl pregnant at 17, I was 18, we didn’t have anything, no job, no money, no plan, but we loved the hell out of each other. We were both poor kids, never had much and didn’t have one of those family names you need to succeed in a small town. But we had each other and that was good enough. 10 years later were married, we have 3 kids now, and a dog.. we both have great careers... a house on some land and we just bought her granddads farm back... From very humbled beginnings, Weber stuck it out, thru thick and thin, and today my love for her is more than it’s ever been. This song hits me hard, because it’s so true. Just felt like sharing my life story. True love does exist. It’s not always pretty, but it’s always worth it.

The love of my life and I had a baby at 17
Got married 30 years ago this month.
We lived in a tiny apartment
And had nothing.
But oh our dreams.
Between his joining the army and me having to go on bedrest..The baby came ..and soon divorce too..
I will always love him..

This song reminds me of my parents so much. It gets me every time at the “Baby there ain’t no shame in bein poor.” My parents worked hard to make things better than they were for them growing up. I make decent money but I’m a working man. I weld and hang iron. I like what I do and it provides a good living for my family. We aren’t rich but we do ok. Our society looks down on working people. I’m proud to be one of them.

Hold your head you. Your family is proud of you I know. Blue collars are what gives them that look down on you the life they have. They are just so stupid they don't even know it :)
@ryangood8769
We need you man. The trades are so solid. I'd be happy if I had children and they went into the trades.
Also, you aren't defined, limited or forced to behave a certain way based on what others expect of you.... blue collar white collar we both gotta work for our money. You set your own value. Know your worth and really believe it brother because nobody is going to give you more than what you ask for when push comes to shove.... no matter how much you've earned it.
