Growing Faith
White Fence Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There is no protection or guard
While you're growing faith
I heard that a man was looking through
A telescope to see the world's view

He was looking away
And i won't be that way
And i've been saved

Someone said don't be silly
The worm is right close to your eyes
The weather reports when you aren't watching
And opium falls from the sky

As i was planting my line
I kept running into a sale
Then a demon lays by my bed
He ways it won't go to sleep and he's right
But i will look away
I've planted ours today
And i will grow faith

If you've never been a little girl
Then grow that faith
Holistic heath has everyone
But i've got crop that will set the sun

I love planting one
And two turns to love

Overall Meaning

The song "Growing Faith" by White Fence is a poetic masterpiece that delves into themes of spirituality, faith, and growth. The song starts by acknowledging that there is no protection or guard when one is growing faith. The line "I heard that a man was looking through a telescope to see the world's view" is an allegory of someone who is trying to make sense of the world around them. The man looking through the telescope represents someone who is searching for answers and trying to understand their place in the world.

The next verse talks about being vigilant and not looking away. The line "And I won't be that way" implies that the singer is determined to face reality and not turn a blind eye to the issues around them. The mention of being saved further emphasizes the importance of faith in keeping one grounded and protected in a chaotic world.

The following verses play with surreal imagery, referring to a worm close to the eyes, opium falling from the sky, and a demon by the bed. This imagery serves to highlight the unsettling nature of reality and the importance of faith in navigating the unknown. The singer eventually affirms their commitment to growing their faith and planting their own crop. The line "And two turns to love" implies that love is a natural byproduct of faith and growth.

Overall, "Growing Faith" is a complex and thought-provoking song that encourages introspection and self-discovery. It portrays the journey of spiritual growth as a dynamic and ever-evolving process.

I LOVE THIS BAND AND ITS SONGS! I do not think Barret sounded like that now, because geniuses evolve. I find that evolution in bands like "The claypool lennon delirium" or "La rueda o el barco"... Anyway it is better to enjoy the music and let our great teachers rest in peace!!

tomhet

Wow such a great album

Its like Ariel Pink, MGMT, some of The Beatles and early Pink Floyd combined.
