Holy Ground
White Heart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're thinking
Your lack of words says it all
Your self esteem is slowly sinking
Who is that stranger in the mirror
You wonder just who you are
But you are certain you're inferior
You don't have to leave to find you
There's no where you need to go
'cause you're standing on Holy ground
It doesn't matter where you are now
You're always standing on Holy ground, on
Holy ground
There is a sacred fire burning
Eternal flame in your heart
That is the place you should be turning
How could you think you're made for
Losing
You asked Him in, now how can you
Doubt
He is the power you should be using
Don't you know - you don't have to run
You don't have to leave to find you
There's no where you need to go
Standing on Holy ground
That's where the Spirit can be found
You could go miles to be where you
Are now
'cause you're standing on Holy ground, on Holy
Ground
The song "Holy Ground" by White Heart is a powerful message of hope and encouragement. The lyrics focus on self-esteem and identity issues, and how these can be overcome by realizing that one is standing on holy ground. The opening lines "You don't need to tell me what You're thinking, Your lack of words says it all" indicate that the person is struggling with their self-esteem and inner thoughts while the line “Who is that stranger in the mirror, You wonder just who you are” shows that they have lost their identity, likely due to the struggles and hardships they have gone through.
The chorus of the song speaks to a longing to be accepted and loved, as the singer urges the person not to run away from their problems or self-doubt. Instead, they should focus on the fact that they are standing on holy ground, and that they don't need to go anywhere for acceptance or purpose. They should look within themselves and embrace the sacred fire burning inside them as mentioned in the lyrics, which is a reference to the Holy Spirit, and use that power to overcome their struggles and grow as a person.
Overall, the song Holy Ground is a message of hope and encouragement to anyone who may be struggling with their identity, self-esteem, or purpose in life. The lyrics encourage the listener to look within themselves for strength and hope, and to realize that they are standing on holy ground, which can provide them with the clarity and strength they need to overcome their struggles.
