Lay It Down
White Heart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The moment closes down to you
And what you feel
All the tremblings of your heart
The dreams you whisper to the stars
All that you're not
All that you are
Oh, lay it down
Come lay it down
Pictures coloured with your pain
Images of silent shame
All the things you thought you had to hide
Broken memories you've locked inside
Oh, lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Come lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Lay it down
Come to the kingdom
All your could have
Should have, might have been's
You know you wanna just start again
Moving past that jagged edge
Stop living on the lonely lane
And lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Come lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Lay it down
Come to the kingdom
So kneel by the healing stream
Let His love keep flowing, flowing
Let it wash you clean
Let it wash you clean
And lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Come lay it down
Oh, lay it down
Lay it down
Come to the kingdom
In the song "Lay It Down" by White Heart, the lyrics describe a moment of stillness and vulnerability in which the singer urges the listener to let go of their fears, regrets, and painful memories. The clock is "standing still" and the moment "closes down" to the listener, creating a sense of intimacy and intense emotion. The lyrics acknowledge the "tremblings of the heart" and the "dreams" whispered to the stars, inviting the listener to embrace their true desires and facades.
The second stanza describes the painful memories and hidden shame that the listener carries with them. The lyrics suggest that the listener can lay these burdens down and start anew, free from the weight of their past. The song encourages moving past the "jagged edge" and "lonely lane" towards healing and forgiveness. The bridge urges the listener to "kneel by the healing stream" and allow love to wash away the pain and shame, leading to a powerful sense of renewal and joy.
Overall, the lyrics of "Lay It Down" hope to inspire the listener to embrace their true selves and let go of the burdens of the past, paving the way towards healing and wholeness.
