In the two years following the release of Phylactery Factory, Casey Dienel and fellow band-mate Shawn Creeden moved from the east coast where they were previously based to Portland. During this time, Dienel was left without her piano where she recorded her sophomore album using various drum machines and synthesizers. On March 9, 2010, Kairos was released by Dead Oceans and the song Icarus has been featured in various commercials and films.
No Logic
White Hinterland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
No reason
No logic at all
To keep holding on
To the hope
You'll turn into
The man I thought you were
I can't stay in one place too long
Are you comfortable? Are you comfortable?
I'm moving along.
Your voice, though stentorian,
cannot hide the shadow of a doubt
Your thoughts may seem golden now
give them time, time to sort them out
How do you know the name
the name of the one you love?
the name of the one you love?
what does it feel like?
can it make a sound?
what does it sound like?
The lyrics to White Hinterland's "No Logic" seem to explore the pain and confusion that comes with holding onto hope that someone will change, even when the signs indicate otherwise. The opening lines state that there is no logic or reason to continue holding on, but the singer is still unable to let go of the hope that the person they once believed could become better will eventually change. As the song progresses, the singer becomes increasingly restless and unable to stay in one place for too long, suggesting a growing discomfort with their situation.
The second stanza suggests that the person they are addressing may be projecting a sense of confidence or certainty, but there is still doubt lurking beneath the surface. The singer acknowledges the possibility that the person they love may have faults, but they still hold onto the belief that they will eventually "sort them out." The final stanza seems to pose an even more existential question about love and its nature. Can the name of the person you love make a sound? What does love even sound like? It's a question that emphasizes the unknowable and often unexplainable nature of love.
Overall, "No Logic" is a song that explores the pain and confusion that comes with hoping for change in someone you love, even when the signs suggest that change is not forthcoming. It's a relatable experience that many people have likely felt at one point or another.

@mrcheese87 I think it's to show that while so much music is digitalized and electronic with the use of autotune and other programs, real music is raw and computers are not needed for it, which is why the setting of the video is in the forest and random wind sounds are used and why the macbook burns, but the music continues.

The Girl reminds me of Lykke Li and the Guy of Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow, so much. Like even their music is like a perfect mix of Lykke Li & Miike Snow. Anyways I love WHite Hinterland xDD Theyre very original:)
