Sentence of Death
White Skull Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Bringing anguish and fear
Days of blood started from Spain
They came with the torture instruments
Demon and beasts escape from this land
Judgement day begin
No one will save his soul
Look at my eyes give me your soul
Sentence of death
I had the power of God
And you are condemned
[chorus]
You are the Evil
I'm sure of my innocence
I'll try to find the real
We are warriors of the truth
Now all is ready for the sentence
The prisoners are arriving
Screams of rage come from the heart
No one's compassion outside
Don't find excuse you are condemned
Sentence of death
Fire is burning the time of the end
Everything is alright
[chorus]
The lyrics of White Skull's song "Sentence of Death" depict a dark and violent historical event. It is likely referencing the Spanish Inquisition, which was a period of religious persecution and intolerance that lasted for over 350 years, from the late 15th century until the mid-19th century. The Inquisition was characterized by cruel methods of torture and punishment, and those accused of heresy or other crimes were often executed. The opening lines of the song, "They came like wolves in the night, bringing anguish and fear," evoke the sense of terror and chaos that must have characterized this time period.
The singer refers to the execution of the prisoners with the lyrics, "Now all is ready for the sentence, the prisoners are arriving, screams of rage come from the heart, no one's compassion outside." This suggests that those condemned to death were not given much mercy, and that they were aware of their impending doom as they were led to their execution. The chorus of the song reinforces the theme of justice, with the singer insisting on their own innocence and claiming to be a warrior of truth. Overall, the lyrics of "Sentence of Death" are a powerful condemnation of religious and political oppression.
