My boss adopted a back to the beach theme to reopen school one year for the teacher work week. He put Buffet's Songs You Know by Heart on the PA system as an easy attitude setter, but obviously had not listened to all the songs. Damn could he run fast from his office to the library to change the CD when this song got to the chorus.

Who else would sing about Snuff Queens!! I never thought Jimmy would leave us. I am a hard rock musician but I’ll will admit I have a ton of Jimmy Buffet music. He was one of a kind and damn this guy knew how to put some killer songs together. Seen him a couple of times back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Anyone who didn’t like JB has issues!! RIP Jimmy. The Doctor, a 1991 American drama film directed by Randa Haines and starring William Hurt as a doctor who undergoes a transformation in his views about life, illness and human relationships. This song was always played in the OR, he harried his favorite OR Nurse to sing along to no avail. That is until HE was on the table and as he was being put under the long suffering Nurse came to him and sang to him for the first time. Very touching scene, (wife MADE me go and see it) it was a good movie!

I have always loved Jimmy Buffett, and grew up listening to him. Whenever we would take high school bus trips to various places and events, you could guarantee this song was going to be played. After graduation and the following year, I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted, and it was going to be much more difficult than originally planned. Anyway, I always have trouble with anesthesia putting me to sleep, so the doc - who I grew up knowing and whose granddaughter was one of my best friends - put on a cassette with the little cassette player he had and headphones on me. It was a Jimmy Buffett cassette, with this song on it. By the time this song came on, the meds had finally kicked in, and I was belting it out as loudly as I could to the top of my lungs, worse than a drunken sailor! I was 19 years old at the time, and everyone in that clinic including the waiting area And the doctor's wife who had dropped off his lunch, was serenaded by my singing, especially this song, of which I never missed a word. After my surgery and I was awakened, everyone was cracking up laughing at me, except for my mom, who was so embarrassed by my "Cantata". Oh well. I think back to that and still laugh, 30 years later!

Thx Jimmy. JB played Nashville in '74; I was at the ripe old age of 17. Nashville's landlocked but that never stopped us from "having a good time." lol Jimmy was one of us. Buffett's first album was "Down To Earth" released in early 1970 on the Barnaby Lable, was at the record store in Houston, looked in the New Release bin, since he was unknown, they only had two copies. I still have both, one still sealed, many years later after never missing a concert. In 1988 he had a sell out concert in Miami on a flating barge as the stage, had bought a back stage pass, rented a 20 person party boat. That was one hell of a night.

One of the best memories of my life, was in 2003/2004 julyish I was snook fishing on Fort Myers pier in Florida and this song came on loud at the nextdoor bar. My step dad Bob Kimber used to live next door to a bowling alley in Florida when he worked for eastern airlines. His upstairs neighbor was Jimmy buffet who was not famous at the time ....I love mr. Buffets music and thank him for sharing his talents with the world.
