Pusherman
Widespread Panic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm your mama, I'm your daddy,
I'm that nigga in the alley.
I'm your doctor when in need.
Want some coke? Have some weed.
You know me, I'm your friend,
Your main boy, thick and thin.
I'm your pusherman.
Ain't I clean, bad machine
Super cool, super mean
Dealin' good, for The Man.
Superfly, here I stand.
Secret stash, heavy bread,
Baddest bitches in the bed,
I'm your pusherman

Silent life of crime
A man of odd circumstance,
A victim of ghetto demands.
Feed me money for style
And I'll let you trip for a while.
Insecure from the past,
How long can a good thing last?
No, no, no

Got to be mellow, y'all
Got to get mellow, now
Pusherman gettin' mellow, y'all

Heavy mind, every sign
Makin' money all the time
My LD and just me
For all junkies to see
Ghetto Prince is my thing
Makin' love's how I swing
I'm your pusherman

Two bags, please
For a generous fee
Make your world what you want it to be
Got a woman I love desperately
Wanna give her somethin' better than me
Been told I can't be nuthin' else
Just a hustler in spite of myself
I know I can break it
This life just don't make it
Lord, Lord, yeah

Got to get mellow, now
Gotta be mellow, y'all
Got to get mellow, now

I'm your mama, I'm your daddy,
I'm that nigga in the alley.
I'm your doctor when in need.
Want some coke? Have some weed.
You know me, I'm your friend,
Your main boy, thick and thin.
I'm your pusherman.
I'm your pusherman.
I'm your pusherman.

I'm your pusherman.
Lord, Lord

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Widespread Panic's "Pusherman" talk about a drug dealer who calls himself a "pusherman." The verses describe the way this person operates in different situations, portraying him as someone who fulfills different roles for different people: a friend, a supplier, a doctor, and even a lover. He boasts about his ability to deal with both drugs and his clients' desires, presenting himself as a "ghetto prince" who can give people what they want, for a price. The refrain repeats the title and portrays the pusherman as someone who is all-encompassing, offering everything from drugs to friendship.

The lyrics of "Pusherman" can be interpreted as a critique of the drug trade and its impact on society. The pusherman is portrayed as a victim of his circumstances, trapped in a life of crime and insecurity. He is aware of his position and the power he wields, but also recognizes the danger and instability of his situation. The song implies that the pusherman's lifestyle is unsustainable and ultimately destructive, both to himself and those around him.

It's truly a gift to be able to say so much with so little. In terms of notes. Houser had a way of getting the point across so beautifully and the space left for the rest of the band was not only there it was so inviting and welcoming. But he did not leave himself out. 3 notes from Mikey may convey an entire chapter of emotion

@jimmyherring7163

Gilmore does it in one note

@Jimmy Herring Gilmour not Gilmore

@beachnaples

Funny the critic canโ€™t spell Gilmour. Michael played a guitar style that has not and never will be copied
