Its home base is the world-famous Musikverein. The members of the orchestra are chosen from the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera.
The orchestra can trace its origins back to 1842, when Otto Nicolai formed what he called a "Philharmonic Academy"; it was an orchestra which was fully independent, and which took all its decisions by a democratic vote of all its members. These are principles the orchestra still holds today. Since 1933, the orchestra has had no one principal conductor, but instead has a number of guest conductors. These have included almost a great number of the world's best known conductors, including Richard Strauss, Karl Böhm, Herbert von Karajan, Georg Solti, Erich Kleiber, Carlos Kleiber, Leonard Bernstein, and Claudio Abbado.

I would love her CD - Mostly Mozart
I still have my mostly Mozart LPs purchased when I was in my early 20s. I’m 70 years old now.
This music has a life of its own. The music was beautiful in the 70s, and continues to be.

Thank God for blessing the world with exceptional pianists like Oxana, who can continue the genius of such composers as Mozart and others. How else would we get to hear recordings of music only first hand written? This piece was beautifully played by Oxana. When music moves you emotionally, the pianist got exactly what the composer wanted us to feel. Oxana, Mozart would be proud. Thank you for all your hard work 💜.

Technically perfect yet delightfully inventive, agile and fresh, especially the 1st movement cadenza. What a brilliant young woman! Great achievements await Oxana Shevchenko.

absolutely stunning performance with awesomely intelligent phrasing and dynamics. Simply the best interpretation on the currently best grand piano. Orchestra does okay but Oxana's interpretation deserves a top orchestra.
