Paris was born on the 11th January 1900. His brother, Sidney de Paris, was also a musician. The two brothers started a band in the late 1940s called New New Orleans Jazz. It featured Omer Simeon, the famed clarinettist with Jelly Roll Morton. Other legendary jazzmen who served in the band from time to time were drummers Zutty Singleton and Freddie Moore. The banjo chair was filled first by Eddie Gibbs and later by Lee Blair. Don Kirkpatrick was the piano player who played with them most often. This band became an institution in New York City during the 1950s, toured the world in the late 1950s, and recorded extensively.

Wilbur De Paris Lyrics

I've come to say goodbye,
Altho' I go, I've got those farewell blues.
Those farewell blues make me yearn,
That parting kiss seems to burn.
Farewell, dearie, Someday I will return.
Dreaming of you is sweet,
Someday again we'll meet.
The lyrics to Wilbur De Paris's song "Farewell Blues" express the sadness and longing that comes with saying goodbye. The opening line "Sadness just makes me sigh," sets the melancholic tone of the song, as the singer reflects on their imminent departure. The phrase "I've come to say goodbye," is both a statement of fact and an acknowledgement of the difficulty of the moment. The final line of the verse "Altho' I go, I've got those farewell blues," captures the feeling of being weighed down by the sadness of leaving.
The second verse continues in a similar vein, with the singer expressing their desire to stay with their loved one. The line "Those farewell blues make me yearn," underscores the sense of longing and unfulfilled desire. The reference to a "parting kiss" in the following line highlights the bittersweet nature of goodbyes, with the singer experiencing both pleasure and pain in the act of leaving. The final lines of the verse are more hopeful, with the singer promising to return to their beloved someday. The final verse speaks directly to the object of the singer's affection, with the words "Farewell, dearie," conveying a sense of tenderness and affection. The repetition of the phrase "someday" suggests that the singer is holding out hope for a reunion in the future, despite the sadness of the present moment.
