Bad Boy
Wilde Marty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All the people down the street, whoever you meet
Say I'm a bad boy, say I'm a bad boy
Say I'm a bad boy
Even dear old dad, when he gets mad
Says I'm a bad boy, says I'm a bad boy
Says I'm a bad boy
Well, you see now, I got a girl
And we stay out late, almost every night
Well, the people just stare and they declare
Well well, it just ain't right
But if only they knew how I love you
They'd say a bad boy, could be a good boy
Who's just in love

Well, you see now, I got a girl
And we stay out late, almost every night
Well, the people just stare and they declare
Well well, it just ain't right
But if only they knew how I love you
They'd say a bad boy, could be a good boy
Who's just in love
So much in love

So crazy in love
So much in love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Wilde Marty's song Bad Boy revolve around the singer being labelled as a bad boy despite his intention of being faithful and devoted to his girlfriend. The first verse highlights how everyone, including his neighbours and father, label him as a bad boy. This suggests that his reputation precedes him, and people have formed opinions about him. Despite this, the singer remains unapologetically himself and continues to stay out late with his girlfriend. However, this behaviour is looked down upon by the people around them who declare it as inappropriate.

In the second verse, the singer expresses his deep love and devotion for his girlfriend. He argues that if people knew the real reason behind his behaviour, they would view him as a good boy. The chorus then emphasizes the depth of his affection for his significant other. The repetition of "so much in love" suggests an intense emotional connection that he shares with his girlfriend. The lyrics overall convey the message of how society can stereotype and disregard people without getting to know them first.

Marty has a new album coming out soon at the ripe old age of 81. He is a true gentleman he respects his fans greatly.

I really loved Marty Wilde's records in the late fifties and early sixties as a teenager of about 14 to 17 so. Danny Boy was my favourite plus Sea of Love, Bad Boy and Teenager In Love. He ticks all the boxes as a person, family man, troubadour, and role model. I still love his music.

I think that he wrote or co-wrote the song.
The one on the other side wasn't bad: 'It's been nice.'

I had never heard of Marty here in the United States until I was looking for this song by Robin Luke. I'm sorry that I missed him for all the years because he is a great singer. Thank you for the pleasure of listening to such a great talent.

+Anne Deakin I have some songs by Cliff Richard and he is not as good as Marty. I also like hearing his daughter sing.
