Before its release, lead-off single “The Other Side of Loneliness” debuted at #5 on the Billboard AAA indicator most-added chart (1/17/15), started at #3 in AAA downloads and streams on radio-servicer PlayMPE.com (1/2/15), and jumped straight onto the FMQB AAA top-200 singles chart (1/20/15) – all without professional promotion or a publicist. The EP itself climbed directly to #1 on Amazon.com’s “Hot New Releases” Adult Alternative list (1/17/15). As RadioInfo.com observed, “... it’s definitely a marketable sound that makes for some hit triple-A playlists… and hot AC/AC stations that wait patiently for their turn …. We are keeping our ears on them. So should you.” (RadioInfo.com Rock “pick of the week” 1/14/15). The band's full official biography can be found here: http://willamena.net/band-bio/
Broken Heart
Willamena Lyrics

And slowly disappear
Like watching ice melting into the sun
It's just gone, gone, gone
I've seen the broken down sidewalks
After a hard spring rain
I've seen the steam rising up to the sun
He's got a broken heart
The tears fell like rain
I told myself I'd never feel this pain again
Cryin' from a broken heart
Don't turn your back on me baby
Don't you run, run, run away
Don't dig your heels down into my heart
And then stomp, stomp, stomp
I know the story's been told
The boy who cried from a broken heart
Yeah he cried for what could've been
Then he drove down to the shore
He's got a broken heart
The tears fell like rain
I told myself I'd never feel this pain again
Cryin' from a broken heart
Broken heart
I saw her across the room
Floatin' like an angel in the night
Cryin' from a broken heart
This is the big water now
The dark pool that portends
It's as deep as a mountain is tall
And the sadness never ends
A star's a lonely feeling
That burned out long ago
She thought she saw the sun in his smile
But it was gone, gone gone
He's got a broken heart
The tears fell like rain
I told myself I'd never feel this pain again
Cryin' from a broken heart
Broken heart
I saw her across the room
Floatin' like an angel in the night
Cryin' from a broken heart
Cryin' from a broken heart
Cryin' from a broken heart
The lyrics of Willamena's song "Broken Heart" describe the painful experience of heartbreak. The imagery used in the song such as of shadows disappearing and broken down sidewalks after a hard spring rain is used to depict the fleeting nature of love and how heartbreak can seem like a natural phenomena. The singer also warns their lover not to turn their back on them and to not stomp on their heart, demonstrating the fear of rejection and loss that comes from a broken heart. The song also features a reference to the age-old story of the boy who cried from a broken heart and went to the shore to deal with his pain.
Through the lyrics, the songwriter highlights the fact that sadness is an ever-present reality after a heartbreak. The song also features a somber tone that underlines the emotion of each word sung. The singer experiences the agony of heartbreak and the sorrow that follows for those left behind. And even though the song expresses a sense of pain, it encourages a sense of hope and resilience in the face of loss and despair.

I wonder if the guitar player is a sound garden fan?
Chad Hendrickson
Thanks for the reply deadspartan...this is Chad Hendrickson guitarist from Willamena and the primary songwriter for the band (vocalist Lukas Ross and I work closely together to write the tunes). Honestly I am not a huge Soundgarden fan at all. I dig 'em now but overall I have never really listened to them closely. I am however a BIG Pixies/Joey Santiago fan as well as Neil Young and the Edge (U2) and I dig my best to combine all these elements into my own sound. Thanks for the comment. I hope you dig the results!
