Broken
William Becton & Friends Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No strength
You're feeling so broke down
Save face
Get out of that ghost town
Keep faith
Cuz you're getting close now
You won't be left behind
You'll never be left behind
So fake
Your friends are all burnouts
Change lanes
This life is what's yours now
Keep faith
Cuz you're getting close now
You won't be left behind
You'll never be left behind
Time flies like the seasons of a past life
In a strange place
At the right time
Time flies like the seasons of a past life
In a strange place
At the right time
Reset reset
Don't you ever dare regret
Reset reset
Reset reset
It's the rhythm in your head
In a strange place
At the right time
At the right time
At the right time
At the right time

In a strange place
At the right time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of William Becton & Friends' song "Broken" express a deep sense of remorse and despair over the state of the world and the individual's place in it. The opening lines acknowledge the singer's wrongdoing and unworthiness, seeking redemption and forgiveness. The use of "we" implies a collective responsibility, suggesting that the entire human race is complicit in the problems that plague society.

The second stanza moves into a broader critique of society, emphasizing the destruction and harm caused by human actions. The metaphor of "living in a broken world" reinforces the sense of hopelessness and powerlessness, implying that the problems are too large and systemic to be easily fixed. The repeated question "Where did you find your love?" highlights the singer's inability to access the same sense of love or hope that others seem to have found.

The final stanza returns to a more personal focus, with the singer reflecting on their own sense of displacement and disconnection. The image of falling through cracks emphasizes the fragility and precarity of human existence. The song ends with the same question, highlighting the ongoing search for love and meaning that is at the heart of the singer's journey.

Overall, "Broken" offers a powerful and poignant reflection on the human condition, grappling with the complexities and challenges of living in a world that often feels irreparably broken.

I remember when this song came out I was homeless and living in my van with my 3 kids at the time. In spite of what I was dealing with i found it hard to be encouraged especially when youโ€™re going thru Trial after Trial and Situations that can have you focused on the circumstances rather than focusing on the Outcome! I thank God for this song that ministered to my spirit no matter what it looked like God reminded me that Heโ€™s Greater and bigger then my problems!!! Somebody Be encouraged no matter whatโ€™s going on He โ€œWILLโ€make it alright. The Joy of the Lord is your Strength!!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’œ
