It was a special night when the Marshall Tucker Band invited me to perform with them and play their song 'Can't You See.'

Darlene was a teenage girl when I first met her, wow
Darlene was only a teenager when I first met her and I was impressed by her talent.

Jeremy played rock 'n roll at my house and I’m proud
Jeremy performed rock 'n roll music at my house and I am proud to have had him perform there.

I’m from the old school
I come from the old generation of musicians.

But I made up my own rules
While I may be from the old school, I still developed my own unique style.

But I learned a thing or two from some pretty good teachers
I still had some great mentors who taught me a thing or two about music.

My education has served me well
My musical education has helped me to excel in my career.

One look at me and you can tell my music’s true
My genuine passion for music is evident in my appearance and my performances.

The class reunion of the blues
My music is reminiscent of classic blues music that people can come together and appreciate.

Well things were kinda rough at times
My journey in music was not always smooth sailing.

I had to find my way
I had to navigate my own path to reach my current level of success.

Not exactly an overnight sensation like some are today
I did not become an instant sensation like some modern artists do today.

Hey I’m a dinosaur, that’s for sure
I am definitely a product of a past era in music.

But here’s what I gotta say
But, even so, I still have something to offer the music industry.
