Satisfied
Willie Dixon and Friends Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you remember how I cried
When your tears fall the way mine fall now
Then, I'll be satisfied
You can't say I didn't love you
You can't say I didn't try
And on the day you're as lonely as I am now
All the time we spent together
Everything that we've been through
The way you touched me deep inside
That's the way I'll always love you
So don't you ask me to take you back
You know I never lie
When you're as hungry for love as I am tonight
Then, I'll be satisfied
In Willie Dixon and Friends' song "Satisfied," the lyrics express the pain and sadness of a broken relationship. The singer sings of the night when their partner said it was over and how they cried uncontrollably. The chorus repeats the phrase "then, I'll be satisfied," indicating that the singer finds some small measure of comfort in the thought that their partner may one day understand their pain.
The second verse reveals the depth of the singer's love and their efforts to make the relationship work, while also acknowledging that they can't force someone to love them. The bridge reflects on the memories and experiences they shared, particularly the way their partner made them feel, which the singer will always treasure. In the final verse, the singer tells their partner not to come back, but also acknowledges that they will always love them, and that if or when their partner finds themselves as lonely and hurt as the singer currently does, then the singer will be satisfied.
Overall, the song presents a complex and nuanced portrayal of heartbreak and the many conflicting emotions that can accompany the end of a relationship.

Etta stormed in like the soul queen she was and elevated this whole performance! Sangin' her throat off like the rent was DUE! The woman was literally pure FIRE and FURY. Loved her little interaction with Whitney towards the end when they called her name and Whitney Houston cheered her on in pure excitement and Etta blew her a kiss 🖤 R.I.P to the legends on that stage that are no longer with us y’all are sorely missed!
