Tokyo Moon
Windmill Lyrics

are stable ends
make sure the walkman gets plugged in
you never thought
you never would
the drugs were doing things you already could
so catch a fall
your reflexes are proof
in our eyes
sing the song
spread the dust
communicate with girls
talk with your foot
CHORUS:
so rachel packed it all away
and I think it was a museum
experiments were conducted that day
the tokyo moon is out of reach
falling out of love can breach your world
and the boundaries of your friend's worlds
and so you thing
the caffeine drink
just to watch some television things
you never thought, you never knew
the hit was doing things you had done in june
so tie your shoes
in a figure 8
intelligence was proof in 1988
catch a cold
blow your nose
insist your doctor knows what you don't know
CHORUS:
so rachel packed it all away
and I think it was a museum
experiments were conducted that day
the tokyo moon is out of reach
falling out of love can breach your world
and the boundaries of your friend's worlds
(instrumental break)
CHORUS X2
Falling out of love with you and I
breaching my own boundaries
The first verse of Windmill's song "Tokyo Moon" seems to describe a drug-induced state where the singer is about to embark on a journey. The line "and now the drugs are stable ends" could refer to being dependent on drugs to maintain a sense of equilibrium or stability in life. The reference to the walkman suggests this is perhaps set in the late 80s or early 90s (the song was released in 2005), and the singer is about to head out for a walk or a ride. The line "the drugs were doing things you already could" could imply that the singer is using drugs as a shortcut to achieve something they are already capable of, but perhaps lack the motivation or confidence to do so without the aid of drugs. The mention of catching a fall and calling one's mom could suggest a sense of vulnerability or fragility associated with the state of mind the singer is in.
The second verse opens with a reference to caffeine, which again suggests a certain time period: caffeine drinks were not as ubiquitous in the 80s and early 90s as they are now. The line "the hit was doing things you had done in june" implies that the singer is repeating past mistakes or actions, perhaps due to being in a drug-induced haze. The line "intelligence was proof in 1988" suggests that the singer is nostalgic for a time when things were simpler or when they were more intellectually engaged.
The chorus seems to be the heart of the song, with the line "falling out of love can breach your world and the boundaries of your friend's worlds" standing out as particularly poignant. This could suggest that the singer's drug use has caused them to push away loved ones or lose touch with their own emotions, and that this has wider implications for those around them. The reference to Rachel packing things away in a museum suggests a sense of detachment or removal from the past, and the idea that experiments were conducted that day suggests a sense of experimentation or trying new things with uncertain outcomes. The line "the Tokyo moon is out of reach" could be a reference to a sense of longing or unattainability, paired with a nostalgia for a time that has passed.

and now the drugs
They are taking drugs now
are stable ends
The drugs are safe
make sure the walkman gets plugged in
Turn on the music player
you never thought
They didn't expect
you never would
They never thought they would
the drugs were doing things you already could
The drugs gave them abilities they already had
so catch a fall
Don't fall over
call your mom
Contact your mother
your reflexes are proof
Your fast reflexes are evidence
in our eyes
From our perspective
sing the song
Sing the music
spread the dust
Spread the substance
communicate with girls
Talk to girls
talk with your foot
Express yourself with body language
so rachel packed it all away
Rachel stored everything
and I think it was a museum
It was like a museum
experiments were conducted that day
They did experiments that day
the tokyo moon is out of reach
They cannot reach the Tokyo moon
falling out of love can breach your world
Breaking up can hurt deeply
and the boundaries of your friend's worlds
This can also affect the lives of those around you
and so you thing
You might think
the caffeine drink
Drink with caffeine
just to watch some television things
Just to watch TV
you never knew
They didn't know
the hit was doing things you had done in june
The drugs gave them experiences they had in the past
so tie your shoes
Tie your shoelaces
in a figure 8
Make a knot in a certain way
intelligence was proof in 1988
Being smart was important in the past
catch a cold
Get sick
blow your nose
Clear your nostrils
insist your doctor knows what you don't know
Trust your doctor even if you don't understand
falling out of love with you and I
We are no longer in love
breaching my own boundaries
Going beyond my own limits
