With Confidence have cited influences from bands The Dangerous Summer, Kings Of Leon, Blink-182, The Wonder Years, The Strokes, The Dead Love and La Dispute on their Facebook. Along with Blink-182, All Time Low, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Dangerous Summer mentioned in their interview with Beers with the Band on YouTube. Their sophomore EP 'Distance' was released on January 13, 2015. It was recorded at Electric Sun Studios with Stevie Knight and Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive, Hands Like Houses, Northlane) at the helm.
On January 4, 2016, the band announced they had signed to American independent record label Hopeless Records. They coincided this news with new single and music video "We'll Be Okay". Following this the band announced an Australian headline tour set to take place in April, with support from Harbours. On April 5 they released their new single "Keeper" along with the announcement that their debut album "Better Weather" was going to be released on June 17 worldwide. Following their Australian headline tour, the band travelled to Japan to tour with The Wonder Years, ROAM & The Cautioners. Directly after the Japanese tour, With Confidence travelled to the UK to support As It Is alongside American band Jule Vera. After the UK tour the band voyaged across to the US to appear on the entirety of the Vans Warped Tour.
Upon returning to Australia the band were on the road almost immediately again, supporting Motion City Soundtrack & 5 Seconds of Summer before heading out on their own album tour in October to celebrate the album that charted at #22 on the ARIA Charts.
In November 2017 Luke Rockets was removed from the band due to sexual misconduct with an underage fan.
In September 2022 the band announced on social media that they were to break up after their current tour at the time and a small run of shows in Australia. They played their final show on November 27 in Brisbane Australia.

What You Make It
With Confidence Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
I'm a motel stay on a weeknight
There's a hole in the door but the pool's fine
Take the light with the dark
I'm a plane and I'm blocking your sunlight
I'm a first-class ticket to a fistfight
Took a hit to the ribs
But I feel just fine, yeah
And I can see that everything repeats
It's all just drop-dead typical
I can see it going on and on
I'm just a star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
Star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
I'm your fucked up leg in the fun run
I'm a jet ski ride in a hot tub (hot tub)
Never quite what you want
But I just don't care, yeah (yeah)
And I can see that everything repeats
It's all just drop-dead typical
I can see it going on and on (going on and on)
I'm just a star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
Star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
(what was that?)
I'm a motel stay on a weeknight
There's a hole in the door but the pool's fine
Never quite what you want
But I just don't care
I'm just a star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
Star fading, falling naked
Burning through my own frustration
Whatever, not your savior
I just think life's what you make it
The lyrics of With Confidence's song "What You Make It" reflect the band's belief that despite the frustrations and hardships in life, one's attitude and outlook shape their experience. The opening lines express the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable, but also determined to persevere. The mention of "burning through my own frustration" suggests that the singer is willing to confront their obstacles rather than giving up.
The subsequent verse describes the singer's self-awareness and acceptance of their imperfections. They acknowledge that they are not always what people want or expect, but that they do not care about conforming to societal norms. They see life as a mixture of light and dark experiences, and the contrast is what makes it worth living.
The chorus repeats the idea that life is what one makes of it, not something to be saved by others. The phrase "star fading, falling naked" is a metaphor for feeling vulnerable and exposed, but also for shining brightly despite any challenges. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the message is important and worth repeating.
Overall, the lyrics of "What You Make It" encourage listeners to embrace life's challenges and make the most of their situation, even when it seems daunting or imperfect.
