Fountain
Wither Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Water pouring, falling, raining
Driving, diving deeper into darkness
Scattered far like scattered thoughts
In fleeting moments found and lost

Found and lost and falling faster
Fading further as they go
Starry night my companion
Witness to my passing time

Lonely now and lost to find
The shores of waters
In my mind
Still as sleep that's ages past
Gone to eyes
A present lasts

Not to last except to pass
To peaceful pastures sleeping cast
To join the all of what has gone
Remembered and forgot

I will fade, my fountain mind
Driving up and diving down till' death
What beyond?
Known when I die

A million thoughts and countless breaths
I have shared with countless souls
And still the fountain flows
We have lived as everything
And everything is what we are

I've found, discovered
We resemble the signs we have made
Given meaning
While surrounded by that which has taken the truth away.
This process
In the tide
Coming round
Coming back now again and again
Till' we experience what we trust

Lonely now and lost to find
The shores of waters
In my mind
Still as sleep that's ages past

Gone to eyes
A present lasts

Overall Meaning

In the song "Fountain" by Wither, the lyrics reflect on the passage of time and the impermanence of life. The opening lines describe the constant flow of water, representing the fleeting nature of moments and thoughts. In the following lines, the loneliness and confusion of the singer are expressed as they search for a sense of belonging and understanding in their own mind. The constant cycle of life and death is acknowledged as the singer contemplates what lies beyond.

In the second half of the song, the lyrics take on a more philosophical tone, exploring the idea that humans create meaning in their lives while surrounded by a world that can be at odds with the truth. The chorus repeats the message that everything is connected and that we shape our surroundings as much as they shape us. The final lines bring the listener back to the image of water, reminding us of the never-ending cycle of life and death.

Just a tip: Dont use sword with knockback and dont try to crit damage. Both actions can push the wither out of the bedrock.

@lsd8699

I followed the instructions exactly and it worked, I tried before in a world in creative and then on my main world.
A word of advice to future people watching this: make sure you do everything as is shown in the video, I assume there might have been a mistake made by the people commenting it doesn't work (I tested in Java)

@fayubstay

Tested on 1.20.2, works great. I recommend you use an axe with sharpness instead, it goes through the wither faster, at least in my experience. Just follow everything step by step here and it'll work.

@one_super_nova

Ignore the people saying this doesn't work; they didnt follow instructions EXACTLY as specified. Like others I confirmed first in creative then a second time on a survival server. For those unaware, this is NOT a new method and it's been doable like this for several versions now. (Java)

@QuantumAnswer

What's confusing to me is video says You need to see "Facing west" and then it says "So once you found a west side", but If you start diging while it says facing west and you see the portal infront of you, you are on an east side of the portal, it's not west side of it...

@pythonityy

yall this WORKS. i tried it on creative on a 1.20.1 world on java and it works. BUT however it doesnt take much damage when suffocating so i will suggest bringing a diamond/netheirte sword to kill it. idk about bedrock tho

@LittleIrishGirl255

Just built this in my world following his instructions to a T and it works perfectly. Easiest nether stars I've ever gotten! Thanks dude!

@trilixr6522

This still works in java 1.20.4 🎉

@fpsentinel942

I can confirm it works in 1.20.4 Java

@rammstein4329

Worked for me as well. Just as mentioned before me in the comments it does work and i guess the other people didnt follow the instructions.
I play on Java 1.20.
I first tried it in a new world in creative and afterwards on our server.
Worked perfectly both times.
Thx!
