Beginning of the End
Wizard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

After Baldur was dead a cruel winter came
Three years long
Brother kill brother
Father killed son

No order no law a time full of war
Fear the night
Asgards cock crowed
The cock of hell too

Heimdall's horn sounds in the night
Einheriers are ready to fight

The beginning-Ragnarfk is coming
Of the end
The beginning
Of the end twilight of the gods

Fenris the dark wolf, breaking his chains
Chasing the sun and the moon
The Midgard snake
Has left the sea of sorrow

Loki rides on a ship made of nails
Right across the world

Satur the giant
Rises with his sons

Overall Meaning

The song "Beginning of the End" by the Wizard describes the time after the death of the god Baldur, when a period of chaos and destruction spread throughout the land. With no order or law, a three-year-long winter descended upon the world, leading to a time of war where brothers killed each other and fathers killed their own sons. The lyrics depict a world filled with fear and despair, where even the sound of Asgard's cock crowing and the horn of Heimdall signaling the readiness of the Einheriers to fight offer little hope for salvation.

As the song continues, the different forces of destruction are personified through mythical creatures from Norse mythology. Fenris, the dark wolf, breaks free from his chains and chases the sun and the moon across the sky, while the Midgard snake has left the sea of sorrow. Loki, the Norse god of mischief and chaos, rides on a ship made of nails across the world, and Satur, the giant, rises with his sons.

Through these vivid images, the song portrays a gradual unraveling of the world, as different forces of destruction come together to mark "the beginning of the end." The lyrics suggest that this is the twilight of the gods, the final showdown that will ultimately lead to the destruction and rebirth of the world.

[Verse 1]
Knockin' on my door, they tell me it's time to go on
Last check in the mirror to see if anything's wrong
The writing's up on the wall
A warning shot to them all

[Chorus]
My head is spinning
It's the beginning of the end
The people freak out when I walk out there
So scared
My head is spinning
It's the beginning of the end
The people freak out when I walk out there
So scared
(Oh, oh)

[Verse 2]
Nostradamus predicted a bomb would drop
And all our guitars will be hung in an old pawn shop
Watch us brush off the dust
In heavy metal we trust
Then kick back and read The Sunday Times

[Chorus]
My head is spinning
It's the beginning of the end
The people freak out when I walk out there
So scared

[Guitar Solo]

[Bridge]
Fifteen hundred thousand years
Wouldn't be enough to dry these tears
I'll still be here hangin' on
And on and on
Things will never be the same
Save the pieces of your brain

[Chorus]
My head is spinning
It's the beginning of the end
The people freak out when I walk out there
So scared
My head is spinning
It's the beginning of the end
The people freak out when I walk out there
So scared
(Oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-oh-oh)

i forgot you were a weezer fan zack

@bonhamclackey574

I think Bill and Ted stopped off in 2008 and picked up Weezer. With 2020 being such a mess, we really need their help. Wyld Stallyns and 2008 Weezer hold the keys to our continued existence. They are here to help us remember how to be excellent to each other. Of course having an 8 member double Weezer may pose dangers we're not ready to face, but at the same time will make some most excellent music.
