Back Round
Wolfmother Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm coming home, right now
Can you tell me if the people need to let alone, right now

I'm coming home
It's been too long
Since the light was gone
I'm coming home, yeah
Come alive, come alive just to see you
Realize it's all in front of you
Realize it's all you ever know
Realize it's all you ever do

Oh, I'm coming back around
Oh, it won't be long

It looks like someone has been
Been here before
They left here thinking they could
Still have it all

The tickets sold and the man got rich with a seven year itch
But all those involved fell over in their own ditch
They lack eyes to see on parallels; seeing all things as similar
Those who deny chance have no chance at all

Oh, I'm coming back around
Oh, it won't be long

Overall Meaning

The song "Back Round" by Wolfmother is about coming home after being away for too long and finding that things may not be as they were before. The lyrics suggest a sense of longing to return to a place where the light once shone bright. The verses ask questions about the state of the people in that place and whether they need to be left alone or not. The chorus is a call to action, urging the listener to come alive and realize that everything they need is right in front of them. The line "Realize it's all you ever do" suggests that the person has been searching for something, but maybe they needed to come back home all along.

The second verse paints a picture of someone who has been in this place before but left thinking they could still have it all. The tickets sold and the man got rich with a seven year itch, but in the end, they all fell over in their own ditch. This verse is warning the listener not to make the same mistake and to search for parallels in life rather than seeing everything as different. Those who cannot see chance have no chance at all.

Thank you!

In my opinion, a rockband is just as good as it´s acoustic performance. In this case everything fits together. great performance! great acoustic rock!!

@BluzRok46

really nice.....gives it a more cowboy-ish feel. Like the music of the wild west.

@wildbrewband1

shoulda used congas insted!

@alkmoan02

Although I love this version, I think the original is better. The electric guitars capture a kinda powerful sound that is difficult to capture with acoustics. At least with this song.

@ArGeNeration

big fail compared to electric version. well, maybe i am just electric guitar geek?
