Xenia Rubinos Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My name is Rosa.
I live under the bridge.
I live under the trees.
I do magic tricks
for money, wooo!
Her name is Rosa.
She lives under the sun.
She lives under the moon.
She will raise your dead,
for money wooo!

I,
I didn't want it to end up this way.
I,
I was just trying to do good for myself
and my two kids.
I,
I didn't want it to end up this way.
I'm just another perfect
product
of family.

They want to put me away for a while.
On account of my violences.
Who's gonna put them away for while
justified by their violences?
Hey!

Help!
Help!
Help!!
Help, help, help!!!

Why
no
one
love
me?
Why
no
one
done
care?
Why
no
one
love
me?
Why no one
seem to care?
Why
no
one
love
me?!
Why no one
seem to care?!
Why
no
one
love
me!?!
And no one anymore?!?

Help!
Help!
Help!!
Help, help, help!!!
Help, help, help!!!
Help, help, help!!!
Help, help, help!!!

Help!
Help!
Help!!
Help, help, help!!!

My name is Rosa.
I live under the bridge.
I live under the trees.

I do magic tricks
for money, wooo!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Xenia Rubinos’s song Help tell the story of Rosa, a woman who lives under a bridge and does magic tricks for money. Rosa is portrayed as someone who is struggling to make ends meet and take care of her children. The first verse speaks about Rosa’s living conditions, how she lives under the bridge and under the trees, which suggests that she is homeless. However, despite her struggles, she still tries to make a living by doing magic tricks for money. The second verse speaks about Rosa’s desperation and how her situation has led her to violence, which has resulted in her being put away. The lyrics raise the question of why society is quick to put someone like Rosa away for their violence but does not hold those who perpetrate violence against her accountable.

The chorus of the song is a cry for help. Rosa is asking for help because she is alone and feels unloved and uncared for. The repetition of the word “help” emphasizes the desperation of her situation. Rosa is asking for someone to notice her plight and help her out of her current situation.

Xenia Rubinos's song Help is a powerful commentary on poverty, homelessness, and the plight of marginalized individuals. The song speaks to the lack of empathy and support for those who are struggling and marginalizes in society. Many people like Rosa end up being pushed into a life of crime or violence due to the desperation of their situation. The song calls on society to do better and provide support for those who need it.

Fantastic! Caught the interview on NPR! Listened to Help & Cherry Tree. AMAZING! Didn't care much for the interviewers questions on that Chicago webcast, but oh well.. she didn't seem to have a wide enough musical vocabulary to address your music, but no matter.. Now, personally, i felt the jazz RIGHT away.. I also was feeling hints of Esthero & Buckley. :)
