<… Read Full Bio ↴A multimedia artist, filmmaker and musician who hails from Jersey, NJ.
Between mixtapes, producing, contemporary art pieces and flight hopping from state to state Yeek has finally been able to drop his first solo music video which he directed and edited himself.
I would probably describe my style as 'imaginative'. My main influences come from cartoon style illustrations, funk music, & the 90s hip-hop culture & 90s hardcore American punk culture. I would have to say the major difference between LA & Florida is that the people are meaner in Florida & that helped me grow as person. I was born in Jersey City, raised in Florida." - YEEK
Lullaby
YEEK Lyrics

Know when you feel it, you feel it at night
Why won't you let me in?
Why won't you let me understand you?
Why won't you let me in?
Baby, just take my hand and
Can you let me sing you a lullaby?
I've been cooking up a playlist
'Cause I don't know how I could say this (say)
If love was a subject in school
Couldn't major in communication
Feelings (I don't want 'em)
They won't show
But when it's time to sleep
You get emotional
Can you let me sing you a lullaby?
And maybe then you'd let me in tonight
Bought a bouquet
When will you try
To be okay? Mm-hmm
Bought a bouquet
When will you try
To be okay? Mm-hmm
Bought a bouquet
When will you try (try, when will you try?)
To be okay? (To be okay) mm-hmm
Bought a bouquet
When will you try? (To be okay, okay) mm-hmm
The lyrics to YEEK's song "Lullaby" explore themes of emotional pain and the struggle to connect with someone who is hurting. The singer acknowledges that they can sense the other person's pain, especially at night when it seems to be more pronounced. They express their desire to understand and be there for the person, but they are confused as to why they are being kept at a distance.
The line "Why won't you let me in? Baby, just take my hand" shows the singer's frustration and longing for a deeper connection. They want to comfort the person and ease their pain, hence the offer to sing them a lullaby. By doing so, they hope to break down the walls and gain the person's trust.
The second verse reflects the singer's struggle to communicate their love and concern effectively. They use the analogy of love being a subject in school, highlighting their difficulty in expressing themselves. This lack of communication exacerbates the emotional turmoil the person feels, which only becomes evident when they try to sleep. The contrast between their stoic exterior and their vulnerability during sleep is touched upon.
Overall, "Lullaby" portrays the yearning for emotional connection and understanding in a relationship where one person is dealing with pain. It delves into the frustrations of wanting to help but feeling shut out, and the difficulties in effectively communicating one's feelings.
