Yeah, New York

Yeah, Manhattan

Yeah, New York

Yeah, Big Apple
Come on, come on

Red hair pink eyes, aw

Goodbye

Red hair pink eyes, aw

Goodbye

Lavender pink dye, aw

Goodbye

Lavender pink dye, aw

Goodbye

Overall Meaning

The song "Yeah Yeah" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs is a high energy tribute to the city of New York. The repeated use of "Yeah" and "Big Apple" throughout the song serves as a declaration of the band's love and admiration for the notoriously vibrant city. The chorus features a unique pairing of descriptive phrases, such as "red hair pink eyes" and "lavender pink dye," which could represent the eclectic mix of people and unique fashion that can be found throughout New York. The frequent use of "Goodbye" could be interpreted as a nod to the transitory nature of the city, where people come and go, but the energy and excitement of the place never fades.

Such nostalgia for this era. There is always a very special and enigmatic feeling towards the bands you remember as they were just starting out and you were also going to your first gigs and festivals.

@brainflowersgarden

i have so many feelings about this song.

years ago, i was in a psych ward for attempted suicide. I met a woman there who was also there for the same thing. we bonded over the same feelings we felt.

before i left, she gave me a letter. it was pretty letter with rainbow lines on it. i still have it. we hugged and cried and said goodbye. after we both got out, we kept in touch. she introduced me to this song, and i'll always associate it with her.

meagan, i'll never forget you. thank you for being a friend to me during a difficult time in my life. i hope you're doing well now.
