I See You
Yelawolf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let me come inside, swallow all your pride
Said you had that fire, please don't change your mind
Keep me no surprise, this is homicide
Willfully I die, this is suicide

I wanna fuck you
Like I love you
I wanna fuck you
Like I love you

Never close my eyes, I wanna see it all
I wanna make you come to me, I wanna see you crawl
The world is turning 'round while you and me go down
Moaning in my ear, climax, I wanna hear the sound
(The sound, the sound, the sound, the sound)

I wanna fuck you
Like I love you
I wanna fuck you
Like I love you

Madonna, Madonna, Madonna, what kind of mama raised you?
And I'm the piranha who chased you
Threw me inside of your prison, I made up my decision
My only regret is they didn't make two
Happily a victim to the collision, running head-on
See, that's a motherfucking breakthrough
Told me I couldn't handle it and, baby, you was dead wrong
What happened to the harder way?
You turned it to a marathon, tear that pussy down
Throw the wig on, very into blondes, whatever you want
With the break of dawn, each and every song
I'ma let the gun go until you call it quit, donezo
You puttin' on a show and I'm sitting front row
You got with the one told, that could wake them, you know
Plus I got an ego to uphold, true, to put it to you blunt

I wanna fuck you
Like I love you

I wanna fuck you
Like I love you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "I See You" by Yelawolf are controversial and sexually explicit, but they reveal a struggle with power dynamics and a desire for connection in a physical relationship. The opening lines, "Let me come inside, swallow all your pride," suggest a character who is begging for acceptance and intimacy, but is also willing to sacrifice himself for the chance to be with the other person. The reference to "homicide" and "suicide" suggests a willingness to risk everything for the sake of this connection.

The chorus, "I wanna fuck you like I love you," reveals a deep longing for the other person, but also a confusion about what love really means. The singer wants to feel the intensity of the physical relationship, but at the same time, wishes it could be more than just a moment of pleasure. The second verse, "Never close my eyes... climax, I wanna hear the sound" emphasizes the intensity of the experience but also highlights the singer's voracious desire to control and dominate the other person.

The final verse contains a reference to Madonna, suggesting that the singer is drawn to women who are confident and powerful, but also highlighting society's complicated feelings about women who express their sexuality. The singer is willing to indulge the other person's desires ("whatever you want"), but ultimately sees himself as the one in charge, with an "ego to uphold." The ultimate message of the song is one of longing and powerlessness, a struggle to find both physical and emotional satisfaction in a world that often denies both.

The woman I'm engaged with is compared to the infamous Madonna; I'm the predator pursuing her, even though I know it's a trap. I went in willingly, knowing the consequences, with only regret that there was no duplicate of her.

Happily a victim to the collision, running head-on See, that's a motherfucking breakthrough Told me I couldn't handle it and, baby, you was dead wrong What happened to the harder way? Despite being warned of the risks, I'm happily engaging in a challenge with her. She's my breakthrough that proved me wrong when I believed I couldn't handle her. I'm willing to make it a long, rough experience and give her what she wants. I'll do everything to keep the performance going and make sure my reputation as a dominant lover remains intact.

I've been listening to Yela since 2007 and wasn't the biggest fan of this album. There are a few good songs though and this is one of them that has gotten even better with time. Maybe one day he'll play it live. He has such a massive discography of music that he could literally have an entirely different setlist for every show he does lol.
