From March 2016 - June 2018, I wrote and performed music under the moniker of ‘Pedro’. When I lost control of my social media and the internet upset me in general, I was forced into a change. Thus, ‘Yellowlees’ was born. If you were a fan of Pedro, you’ll find him here - I am him, just with a little change of direction. I think the new name is a slightly better fit. Even if I was forced into the rebrand, I’m going to make it work. So, it’s time to get started.
Yellowlees is is the onstage identity of Pete Rapp, who formerly performed under the stage name Pedro.
Yellowlees is an emerging singer-songwriter originally hailing from the South Coast of the UK. Having written songs and played in bands since the age of 15, Yellowlees is trying to make something honest with his music. Now 21, he independently released his debut EP “Eden” in September 2016, full of catchy songs, honest lyrics, and real emotion in his music. Yellowlees always tries to write heart-on-the-sleeve confessions of what’s on the mind – if even one person connects with a song in any small way, then it’s all worthwhile. Known locally for his energetic live shows, there’s nowhere Yellowlees feels more at home than playing live.
Previous shows include supporting the likes of The Tin Pigeons and The Islas, for Scruff of the Neck Promotions, and competing in the grand final of the Wedgewood Rooms Showcase 2016, along with radio play from BBC Introducing Norfolk. Festival appearances include Oxjam Norwich 2018 and Icebreaker Festival 2018.

Is it you I'm missing, is it just a phase?
I think it's high time for me to find new ways
To spend my time
I wish I could tell you I'm aching
I wish I could help you when you're breaking down
But I don't know how it's gonna go
I can feel your hooks in me every time I move
Biting at my skin, pulling me back to you
I've got to get out, got to push on through
Gotta cut you loose
By God, it's gonna hurt
But I've got to escape her
I wish I could tell you I'm aching
I wish I could help you when you're breaking down
But I don't know how it's gonna go
I've gotta move on and start saying no
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love
I wish I could tell you I'm aching
I wish I could help you when you're breaking down
But I don't know how it's gonna go
I've gotta move on and start saying no
The lyrics of Yellowlees's song "Fake Love" tell a poignant story of longing, inner conflict, and ultimately finding the strength to break free from a toxic relationship. The singer starts by reminiscing about better days and questioning whether their feelings for the other person are genuine or simply a passing phase. This internal struggle leads them to realize that it's time to find new ways to spend their time and move forward.
The emotional turmoil deepens as the singer expresses a desire to help the other person when they are hurting, yet acknowledges their own need to prioritize themselves and break away. The metaphor of feeling "hooks" in them every time they move conveys the intense emotional hold the other person has on them, pulling them back despite their efforts to move on. There is a sense of urgency and determination in the singer's resolve to cut ties and escape the pain, even though it will be a difficult process.
The repeated refrain "We wake up, we break up, we make up, it's fake love" reinforces the cycle of dysfunction and insincerity in the relationship. The singer recognizes the pattern of constantly falling back into the same destructive cycle, perpetuated by false displays of affection and reconciliation. This repetition emphasizes the futility of continuing in a relationship built on deceit and superficiality.
In the final verses, the singer reiterates their wish to help the other person but acknowledges the need to prioritize their own well-being and start setting boundaries by saying no. The emotive plea to move on and let go resonates with the underlying theme of self-realization and growth. Ultimately, "Fake Love" delves into the complexities of navigating conflicting emotions, breaking free from toxic patterns, and choosing to prioritize personal growth and healing.
