They first came to notice in 2000 with the single "Whistle While You Twurk" which got play on urban and pop radio stations and peaked at #16 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Their full-length debut album, Thug Walkin', came out later that year. Their next album, Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins (2002) failed to sell 500,000 units and they didn't really achieve popularity until they collaborated with the self-styled "King of Crunk" Lil Jon on his 2002 single "Get Low". The song was a huge club and radio hit and the duo subsequently signed a deal with TVT Records.
Their first album for the label, Me & My Brother was certified platinum on April 12, 2005[1] and yielded three more hits — "Whats Happnin!", "Naggin'" and the popular Lil Jon collaboration "Salt Shaker". The same year the duo appeared on Britney Spears' album In the Zone and her television special of the same name. In 2004, TVT released My Brother & Me, an album composed largely of remixes which featured a bonus DVD of the group's videos. A new album U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta) appeared in the summer of 2005 as its singles "Wait (The Whisper Song)", "Badd", and "Shake" were dominating urban radio, and U.S.A. (Still United), a collection of outtakes, remixes, and collaborations similar to My Brother & Me followed in December 2005. It too was accompanied by a DVD featuring music videos and other footage from the U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta) period.
The group's fifth album Chemically Imbalanced was released in November 2006. For this album the Twins collaborated with producers Wyclef Jean and Jerry 'Wonder' Duplessis in addition to Mr. Collipark (who produced a majority of the songs on the group's previous albums). The first two singles were the Hall & Oates-sampling "Dangerous", featuring Wyclef Jean, and "Jigglin'".
They have both parted ways with Mr. Collipark after their last album, Chemically Imbalanced, and their future albums will not be distributed through TVT Records. They have also planned to work on their own record label and artists. D-Roc owns Punnn!!! Entertainmnet with Da Muzicians and Nue Breed as the first two duo signees. Kaine owns EA Productions, and has his group Hard Boyz, as well as Countrie Biggz, Geeskie, and Kuzin Big Boyy. Kaine also plans on releasing a solo album in the near future.

And I got Da Muzicians, Big Countrie, and B Gizzle to help me show y'all how ta walk
Dis is a new dance, right
It's da ghetto electric slide
So y'all got ta walk wit me

Walk wit me now,
Step right wit me now,
To the left wit me now,
From the front to the back,
From the front to the back,
From the side to the side,
From the side to the side,
Walk wit me, step wit me, take a right wit me, make a left wit me,
Wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk with it
Get energetic
And hyperactive
Then start it dancin '
Then gon' do da walk
Get energetic
And hyperactive
Then start it dancing
Then gon' do da walk
To the right, to the right
To the left, to the left
To the back, to the back
To the front, to the front
Now take some baby steps, now take some baby steps,
Now take some baby steps, now take some baby steps,
Now take some baby steps, now take some baby steps,
Now take some baby steps
To the right, to the left
To the right, to the left
To the back, to the front
To the back, to the front
Walk wit me now,
Step wit me now,
Step right wit me now,
To the left wit me now,
From the front to the back,
From the front to the back,
From the side to the side,
From the side to the side,
Walk wit me, step wit me, take a right wit me, make a left wit me,
Wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk with it
Up in my pimp mode
Movin' through the club in slow mo
Slow the slump down, wit my arm hangin' real low
Knowin' something new, cause they never see me move before
I might be a big nigga, but still clor rug
So come on shawty let go
To the fuckin dance flo'
Let me see you shake it, pop that thang
Oh you a nasty ho
Make that thang walk slow
Come on take it to the flo'
Walk wit me one time, yeah shawty make it low
Bizzle got the pistol
Put one in ya make ya whizza
Relocate your body part
Hey ya walkin like a crippa
When nigga be actin quicka
Pick her up, they start to tripa
Cant blast either nigga,
Ass down to the whizza
Betcha got a isha

When ya say somethin bitch
See a ho, get a ho, fuck it blame one bitch
Atcha wit your dick in my hand
My hand burnin

Step right wit me now,
To the left wit me now,
From the front to the back,
From the front to the back,
From the side to the side,
From the side to the side,
Walk wit me, step wit me, take a right wit me, make a left wit me,
Wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk with it
You know I walk wit a tip and my jeans always sag
I don't have to wear a belt, my pistol hold up my pants
I'm a a original gangsta, cool as they come
Step in a club,look around-would choose anyone
I bruise any nigga wanna go there wit me
Better know I go everywhere wit that 4-4 wit me
I go in a strip club withcho ho wit me
Walk out wit 2 mo, ready to get busy
I'm whatever if it come to it
Like my idea just do it
More then half of you niggas
Sold a product and ran through em
Man I'm a foo wit it,
I'm a beast wit it,
Beat the slave, grope em, run in man im keep kickin' it
And I'm knee deep in it and I hold it down
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisianan-uptown
I hit it how I live, it ain't just talk
You can tell I'm the shit by the way I walk
Walk wit me now,
Step wit me now,
Step right wit me now,
To the left wit me now,
From the front to the back,
From the front to the back,
From the side to the side,
From the side to the side,
Walk wit me, step wit me, take a right wit me, make a left wit me,
Wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk wit it, wa' walk with it
The lyrics of Yin Yang Twins’ “The Walk” showcases the fame of the Ghetto Electric Slide, a dance that was gradually becoming popular at the time. The song is essentially an instruction manual for the dance move, and as such, it is a fun and straightforward dance song designed to get the party started. The lyrics begin with D-Roc introducing the Ghetto Electric Slide, which he says is a new dance. He is joined by Da Muzicians, Big Countrie, and B Gizzle, who help him demonstrate how to walk.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the various steps involved in performing the dance. It starts with “walk wit me now,” followed by “step wit me now,” “step right wit me now,” and “to the left wit me now.” The chorus then repeats these steps, but this time, expands them to include “from the front to the back” and “from the side to the side.” The song’s also requests dancers to take baby steps while taking the diagonal steps, prompting them to move with ease while maintaining the dance's flow.
Overall, “The Walk” is a fun, catchy tune designed to get people moving on the dancefloor. The lyrics are easy to follow and, coupled with a beat that is perfect for dancing, make it a hit at parties.
