See You In Hell
Yngwie Malmsteen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can't bow for a rule
Cause I'm nobody's fool
No puppet on a string when what counts is to win
Sometimes I might be rude
Acting in my mood
I'm trying to be straight
Cause I don't want to be late
There's nothing you can say to make
Me feel worse than I do (how are you)
You can't buy my freedom
Keep me locked in your cell
Sad how we waste our energy
When all our days are few (makes me blue)
We're two of a kind me and you
I guess that I'll see you in hell
Who is my friend
Who will remain
Seems like I always stand alone in the end
Nobody lasts until the end
There's nothing you can say to make
Me feel worse than I do (how are you)
You can't buy my freedom
Keep me locked in your cell
Sad how we waste our energy
When all our days are few (makes me blue)
You can't buy my life and freedom
It's more than just buy and sell
You can't keep me locked in your cell

I guess that I'll see you in hell
See you in hell

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Yngwie Malmsteen's song "See You In Hell" contains commentary about personal freedom and individualism. The singer in the song is expressing that they won't bow to any rules that they don't believe in or become anyone's puppet because they want to win on their own terms. The singer is also frank about their moods and behavior, but they try to be honest with themselves and others because they don't want to be late in achieving their goals.

The song also reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of spending it on what truly matters. The singer recognizes that there are people in their life who will remain faithful but knows that in the end, everyone must walk their own path. The repetition of the phrase "You can't buy my freedom, keep me locked in your cell," reinforces the idea that the singer values their autonomy above all else, and they are willing to stand up for it even in the face of opposition.

Overall, Yngwie Malmsteen's "See You In Hell" is a song that celebrates the importance of personal freedom and individuality. The lyrics encourage listeners to be true to themselves and not allow anyone to hold them back or dictate their path in life.

this is a great song and it has its melody magic, but the popular audience doesn't even know it exists

@esbensolgaardguitaretc.2372

Thats irrelevant Malmsteen is a spiritual warrior this time around.

@martinlehfeldt5231

yngwie, you play with the intricacies of a genius, and the ferocity of a beast.

This is the first song I ever listened to from the Eclipse album. The Hard Rock/Heavy Metal station in my area played this song very often before the album was even released. I could not wait for the album to come out because I loved this song way more than anything off of Odyssey which I loved also. See You In Hell( Don't Be Late) reminded me so much of the album Marching Out which has always been my favorite Yngwie Malmsteen album and still is. The Eclipse album thirty years later is still one of my favorite Yngwie Malmsteen albums and I still enjoy listening to now as much as I did when I first got it.

@Mrsofusen

The last half of the album is fucking magical and a huge part of my life. The soundtrack to many years, but the first half is too much 80s heartbroken boyfriend music😂

@DaveWestGuitar

His previous keyboardist Jens is even more sophisticated in his command of the keys. Certainly this one is great, Mats Olausson RIP.

@genapp3603

You've not heard much then in your 20 years of playing
