YoungBoy started writing and making music around the age of fourteen, eventually dropping his first mixtape Life Before Fame in April of 2015.
YoungBoy started to gain recognition when he dropped his projects Mind Of A Menace 3, Before I Go, and 38 Baby, but gained the most recognition for his hit song “38 Baby.”
Shortly after the success of “38 Baby” Young Boy was arrested on November 28, 2016, and was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder in connection with a drive-by shooting which occurred November 7, 2016. YoungBoy ended up being sentenced to a ten-year suspended prison sentence after serving six months in prison.
After YoungBoy was released from jail, he dropped “Untouchable” which is one of his biggest hits to date. Following the release of “Untouchable,” YoungBoy released AI YoungBoy on August 4, 2017.
Later on, in 2017 YoungBoy ended the year by dropping Ain’t Too Long and started 2018 by releasing his debut studio album, Until Death Call My Name.
Nowadays YoungBoy has come up with more famous tracks such as “Drawing Symbols,” “Lil Top,” “House Arrest Tingz” and “Around”. These have appeared on albums as AI Youngboy II, Still Flexin', Still Steppin' and Top.
On March 25, 2021, the rapper was taken into custody by the FBI on an outstanding federal warrant for drug and weapon charges which date back to 2016. While locked up, YoungBoy’s team released the rapper’s third studio album, Sincerely, Kentrell, on September 24, 2021: it was originally set to be released in May of the same year. Nearly a month after, on October 22, YoungBoy was released from jail on a $500K bond and is currently placed on house arrest in Utah.
Ending 2021, YoungBoy partnered with the fellow Louisiana native, Birdman to present the two artists' joint mixtape, From The Bayou which would peak at #19 on the Billboard 200.
Beginning 2022 to a ferocious start, YoungBoy would begin to diss King Von on songs such as “Bring The Hook,” and “Fish Scale.” These songs would soon appear on YoungBoy’s eighteenth mixtape, Colors which would later peak at #2 on the Billboard 200.
Later in the year, just a month afterward, YoungBoy would find himself in a viral controversy with the Chicago native, Lil Durk as both of them exchanged brutal disses from Durk’s “AHHH HA,” to YoungBoy’s “I Hate YoungBoy” — both regarding the death of King Von.
Following his hastily start to 2022, YoungBoy would partner up with DaBaby to present the duo’s joint mixtape, BETTER THAN YOU in March. The mixtape would later peak at #10 on the Billboard 200, this would mark YoungBoy’s ninth top ten.
On April 1, 2022, continuing his victorious run, YoungBoy would release The Last Slimeto Sampler, a sample album for his August release, The Last Slimeto. This album would mark YoungBoy’s final album with Atlantic Records.
On July 15, 2022, YoungBoy was found not guilty of his federal guns charge. In a interview on Instagram, YoungBoy announced that he and his team were planning to go on tour.
As planned, on August 5, 2022, YoungBoy released The Last Slimeto which would mark his last album with Atlantic Records, completing the contract. The album would also peak at #1 on the Billboard 200 marking his fifth #1 album. The project would also break a tie with Taylor Swift as it scored a #1 album in each of the past four years.
On September 6, 2022, YoungBoy released Realer 2 as a surprise release, it is presented as a sequel to his December 2018, Realer. Just over a month following the release of Realer 2, YoungBoy released the Juvenile-influenced mixtape, 3800 Degrees which would peak at #12 on the Billboard 200. Two weeks prior to the release of 3800 Degrees, YoungBoy would release yet another mixtape hosted by DJ Drama as a part of his Gangsta Grillz series titled Ma’ I Got A Family.
Through Billboard, on October 24, 2022, it was announced that following YoungBoy’s departure from Atlantic Records, beginning 2023, he would release music under a joint venture deal between his own Never Broke Again and Motown Records.

(I bet my last track probably gave you lockjaw) (Lilkdubb)
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
Unthoughtful game, they don't see the pain when lookin' in your eyes
I'm a bloody man, I don't feel shame for all them niggas dyin'
Holdin' on to my name with nothin' to claim, when through the night, I'm cryin'
These bitches lyin', let's face the fact
Them bullets flyin', let's talk 'bout that
Couldn't grab my strap, BaBa shot back
I feel the pain of the innocent
When I did my time, I ain't feel nothin'
It was for that man who was heaven-sent
For that child who was great, she wasn't supposed to deal with this shit
I'm with the shit, point that Draco at your head (bitch, what up?)
But it don't mean nothin' when them white folks talkin' 'bout bread
Lost in your thoughts, without your fam, nowhere to stay
Grew in that North, learned that's one place where not to play at
Cop cars come and take your child away
Puttin' guns to the face, so ain't nobody safe
Scream 4KTrey, I wonder if I'm who the change is
Can't find forgiveness since the day heaven gates where my mans went
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
I wonder why wanna see me cry
You fuckin' with the other side, probably wanna see me die
We ain't stop until we get 'em, thug, we bustin' at the ride
Fuck all four these people bring me down, my head stay to the sky
I'm a slime
What's the order? I ain't do nothin' wrong, this what I'm taught
They been fuckin' up the culture, tryna tell a nigga it's law (it's not)
My lil' nigga, he a vulture, he don't know his mom or pa (nah)
He don't even know what's important, he just gon' knock your head off
But I'm wrong for bein' safe in this home of the land
And I stand for 3 and K, not once, not never, we ran
I been bringin' food to the plate for either the fam or my fans
Real niggas gon' know you hurtin', you ain't gotta hold out your hand
Hold your head, we are never far
As long as we stand, they'll never call
Or ask a nigga how they been or how they feelin' through the day
They'll be havin' greed or envy 'bout the money you done made
But I want all you bitches to
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
(This Vade on the keys)
This is Vade producing the instrumental for the song
(I bet my last track probably gave you lockjaw) (Lilkdubb)
I'm confident that my previous song was so good it left you speechless
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
I'd rather face destruction than receive fake admiration from you
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
There are no clear rules or morals, and I can't explain the path I've taken
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
However, I know deep down that I was destined to live a life of criminality
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
No one comprehends the struggles you face and the help you seek
Feel the breeze, nowhere to sleep or to run and hide
I experience a constant state of rootlessness, with no place to rest or find refuge
Unthoughtful game, they don't see the pain when lookin' in your eyes
The harsh realities of life are often overlooked, and people fail to recognize the anguish reflected in my eyes
I'm a bloody man, I don't feel shame for all them niggas dyin'
I have been involved in violence, and the deaths of others don't bring me guilt or remorse
Holdin' on to my name with nothin' to claim, when through the night, I'm cryin'
I cling to my reputation despite having nothing of value, and during the night, I'm overwhelmed with despair
These bitches lyin', let's face the fact
These women are constantly deceiving, and it's time to acknowledge this reality
Them bullets flyin', let's talk 'bout that
Instead of ignoring the prevalence of gun violence, let's have an open discussion about it
Couldn't grab my strap, BaBa shot back
I couldn't reach my weapon, but my acquaintances retaliated with gunfire
I feel the pain of the innocent
I empathize with the suffering experienced by those who are blameless
When I did my time, I ain't feel nothin'
During my imprisonment, I didn't experience any emotions
It was for that man who was heaven-sent
I endured the punishment for a person who was considered godly
For that child who was great, she wasn't supposed to deal with this shit
I endured hardships on behalf of a young girl who had immense potential and shouldn't have faced such adversity
I'm with the shit, point that Draco at your head (bitch, what up?)
I'm involved in dangerous activities, threatening to harm others with a firearm
But it don't mean nothin' when them white folks talkin' 'bout bread
However, the material wealth I accumulate is insignificant when compared to the discussions of profit by those in power
Lost in your thoughts, without your fam, nowhere to stay
Trapped in your own contemplations, without the support of your family and no place to call home
Grew in that North, learned that's one place where not to play at
I was raised in a dangerous neighborhood and learned to avoid certain areas due to their propensity for violence
Cop cars come and take your child away
Police officers arrive and separate you from your child, taking them into custody
Puttin' guns to the face, so ain't nobody safe
Law enforcement officers resort to using firearms, making it clear that no one is secure
Scream 4KTrey, I wonder if I'm who the change is
I continually proclaim my allegiance to my gang, but I question if I'm the one who can bring about positive transformation
Can't find forgiveness since the day heaven gates where my mans went
I've struggled to find forgiveness since my close friend passed away and presumably entered heaven
I wonder why wanna see me cry
I ponder why some individuals desire to witness my emotional vulnerability
You fuckin' with the other side, probably wanna see me die
You're associating with opposing factions, likely hoping for my demise
We ain't stop until we get 'em, thug, we bustin' at the ride
We won't relent until we catch our enemies, engaging in violence against them
Fuck all four these people bring me down, my head stay to the sky
I disregard the negative influence of these individuals and maintain a focused mindset towards success
I'm a slime
I exhibit traits of deceitfulness and shadiness
What's the order? I ain't do nothin' wrong, this what I'm taught
What are the instructions? I haven't committed any wrongdoing; this is merely what I've been taught
They been fuckin' up the culture, tryna tell a nigga it's law (it's not)
Others have been corrupting the cultural norms, attempting to dictate what is right and wrong, even though it's not accurate
My lil' nigga, he a vulture, he don't know his mom or pa (nah)
My young sibling exhibits predatory behavior and lacks knowledge of their biological parents
He don't even know what's important, he just gon' knock your head off
He lacks understanding of priorities and is willing to resort to violence without hesitation
But I'm wrong for bein' safe in this home of the land
However, I'm criticized for prioritizing my safety in this land considered to be our home
And I stand for 3 and K, not once, not never, we ran
I stand in allegiance to my gang, 3 and K, and we have never backed down from any challenges
I been bringin' food to the plate for either the fam or my fans
I have been providing for either my family or my supporters, making sure they have sustenance
Real niggas gon' know you hurtin', you ain't gotta hold out your hand
Authentic individuals will recognize your pain without you explicitly asking for help
Hold your head, we are never far
Remain strong and resilient, as we are always close by
As long as we stand, they'll never call
As long as we remain united, they will never summon us
Or ask a nigga how they been or how they feelin' through the day
They won't inquire about a person's well-being or emotions throughout the day
They'll be havin' greed or envy 'bout the money you done made
Instead, they will harbor feelings of greed or envy regarding the wealth you have acquired
But I want all you bitches to
However, I want all of you women to
Watch me burn before you bitches show me love
Witness my downfall before you pretend to care for me
Ain't no wrong or rights, I can't tell you how it was
There are no absolutes when it comes to what is right or wrong, and I can't fully explain my experiences
But I can tell you I was born to be a thug
But what I can say is that I was destined to live a life of criminality
Don't nobody understand when your hand out
No one comprehends the difficulties you face when you're seeking help
