Both provided tracks for his 2016 debut LP, King of Memphis, which featured no guest artists, and debuted at number 49 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
A trio of mixtapes followed, ending withm Rich Crack Baby. Young Dolph's "By Mistake" is a trap song that talks about the rapper's lavish lifestyle, from his expensive taste in furniture, cars, and clothing to his relationships with women and his outlook on life. The song begins with a warning to those who might threaten him, stating that they will get burned. He then talks about his paper route business and advises listeners to be cautious about who they consider friends because they can turn on you. Dolph raps about being under the influence, driving, and having a one-track mind of making money. He also mentions investing in his wrist, making a million-dollar deal, having multiple M's in his bank account, and buying expensive accessories. Dolphโs boastful lyrics convey the message that he lives a carefree life and does not abide by traditional rules or constraints.
The chorus of the song echoes Dolphโs anti-establishment attitude, repeatedly stating, "Mothafuck the law! Fuck the law! Fuck the law!" He boasts about flying down Elvis Presley Boulevard in a race car while drinking raw and having a white girl, who looks like a Barbie Doll, by his side. The chorus is then followed by Dolph describing his extravagant shopping experience at Barneys, where he mistakenly spent a fortune, which is not a big deal to him because he is rich. The song concludes with his disdain for those who smile in his face, but secretly harbor jealousy and greed towards him, fueling Dolph's need to succeed.
Overall, "By Mistake" is a song that boasts of wealth and luxury, while taking a critical stance towards those who might try to impede Dolph and his success.
