This band subsequently, during their short life, called themselves DC Youth Brigade. Youth Brigade DC also has 3 tracks featured on the 1982 Dischord compilation Flex Your Head. An unreleased song entitled "I Object" is also featured on the 20 Years of Dischord compliation set. Although only around for a short period of time the DC Youth Brigade played shows with the legendary Minor Threat. Their style is also now considered a classic example of American hardcore punk.

Yell and spit all kinds of shit
Attack us for what we believed
We were young and so naive
I was only seventeen
Filled with hope and a sense that we
Could change things
Let them know
Let them know
I think about you
Do you think about me?
Didn't think that we
Were part of any scene
We had no dreams of stardom
We were just kids
Played our music
Put on shows
We toured the world
And I suppose I didn't thank you
So I thought I'd write this song
Let them know
Let them know
They did it for you
Would you do it for them?
Let them know
Let them know
I have to tell you how I feel
Sometimes I wonder, is this real?
I don't know if it's dumb luck
Or if I really give a fuck
Looking back its such a haze
I have no regrets
I just want you to know
Life is good, life is fine
I play my music all the time
And I'm learning about life naturally
Have you listened?
Has it helped, then I'm glad
And I want to tell you thank you
It means everything to me
Let them know
Let them know
I think about you
Do you think about me?
Let them know
Let them know
I have to tell you how I feel
Sometimes I wonder, is this real?
Let them know
Let them know
They did it for you
Did you do it for them?
Let them know, let them know
The song "Let Me Know" by Youth Brigade is a tribute to the punk rock scene of the 1980s, and in particular, to the fans who supported them. The lyrics reflect on the early days of punk rock, when it was a subculture that was misunderstood and sometimes reviled by mainstream society. The singer of the song acknowledges that he and his band were once attacked and criticized for their beliefs by people who didn't understand them. He remembers feeling young and naive but also hopeful that they could change things through their music.
As the singer looks back on those days, he realizes that he and his bandmates were part of a larger punk rock scene and that they had a strong bond with their fans. He acknowledges that they didn't aspire to stardom but were just a group of kids who played their music and put on shows. They toured the world and had many experiences that they didn't fully appreciate at the time. The song is an expression of gratitude to their fans and a desire to let them know how much they meant to the band.
The chorus of the song repeats the line "Let them know" several times, urging the listener to remember the early days of punk rock and to appreciate those who helped make it possible. The lyrics also express a sense of disbelief that their music has had such an impact on people's lives. The singer wonders if it's just "dumb luck" or if he really "gives a fuck," but ultimately he concludes that he has no regrets and is grateful for the experience.
