Youth Of Today split in 1990 after releasing two studio albums and two 7" EPs, but have since reformed several times for reunion shows. Frontman Ray Cappo went on to form Hare Krishna bands Shelter (with Porcelly on guitar) and Better Than A Thousand, and would later cause controversy in the straight edge scene after being seen drinking a glass of wine in Italy while on tour.
Better Than You
Youth of Today Lyrics

Negativity
No Unity
Something's gone wrong
Thinking to myself how smart I am
Because I won't get caught up
In some dick's bad joke.
I'll just walk away
BETTER THAN YOU CREW (x3)
Why even bother?
BETTER THAN YOU CREW (x3)
Why even bother?
I'm smarter cause I joined the crew
And I'm better than those who
Are picking fights
And violating my rights
You can always be the one
To end up on the top
Keep your standards high
Set your goals and never stop
This world of ours is fine and
Our future can be great
If you use our heads not our fists
We can wipe out all the hate
BETTER THAN YOU CREW (x3)
Why even bother?
BETTER THAN YOU CREW (x3)
The song "Better Than You" by Youth of Today explores themes of sincerity, unity, and positivity in the face of negativity and conflict. The opening lines hint at the frustration with the current state of things, as the singer laments that "something's gone wrong." The verses go on to highlight the importance of staying true to oneself and maintaining high standards, even when faced with opposition. The chorus, with its repeated refrain of "Better Than You Crew," suggests the importance of finding like-minded individuals to band together with.
The song seems to assert that the key to making a positive impact on the world is to lead by example, staying true to one's principles, and refusing to get caught up in the negativity and conflict that can so easily consume us. Rather than resorting to violence or aggression, the song advocates for a more peaceful and cooperative approach to solving problems. Ultimately, "Better Than You" is an appeal to unity and solidarity in the face of adversity.

I thought this was a GB tune. Did they both play it/write it? Or did YOT cover GB or the reverse
