Getaway
Yusif! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

I kissed you on the sofa first time we locked eyes
You looked surprised at what I'd done
Said you had to run and then you
Kissed me on the sofa, a picture of Marilyn Monroe
Was on your shoes, you wanted to sing the blues, but I said
Let's get away from it all
Get away from this world together
Tell me you'll be my girl forever
Get away from this world it’s better
Tell me you'll be my girl forever and ever
I took you to a movie, Garden State was not my cup of tea
You smiled at me, sippin’ on some coffee, you said
Isn't it a small world, always seems much
Bigger than you know, a Jersey girl will always tell you so
So, let's get away from it all
Get away from this world together
Tell me you'll be my girl forever
Get away from this world it’s better
Tell me you'll be my girl forever and ever, love
Love I have a plan we'll make our very own escape route
Love I have a plan we'll make our very own escape route
Get away from it all
Get away from this world, escape it
Tell me you feel my hand and take it
Get away from this world, get naked
Tell me you feel my heart, but don't break it
Don’t break it love
Get away from it all
Get away from this world together
Tell me you'll be my girl forever

Get away from this world it’s better
Tell me you'll be my girl forever and ever and ever

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Yusif's song "Getaway" narrates a poignant love story that begins with a chance encounter and unfolds into a romantic journey of escapism. The songwriter reminisces about their first intimate moment with their partner, as they share a kiss on the sofa, setting the tone for the deep connection they share. Despite the initial surprise and hesitation, the partner reciprocates the affection, hinting at a mutual desire to escape the realities of the world they inhabit.

As the narrative progresses, the lyrics depict the couple bonding over small moments and shared experiences, such as a movie date where the singer's indifference towards the film is overshadowed by the joy of being in each other's company. The reference to Marilyn Monroe and the notion of singing the blues suggest a longing for a different, more carefree life, one that transcends the mundane confines of their everyday existence.

The chorus of the song serves as a recurring plea for escapism and eternal love, as the singer yearns to break free from the constraints of the world they inhabit and find solace in their partner's embrace. The mention of creating their own escape route signifies a shared dream of carving out a sanctuary where their love can thrive unfettered by external influences.

In the final verses, the lyrics brim with passion and vulnerability, as the songwriter implores their partner to trust in their love and embark on a journey of liberation together. The imagery of getting naked, both literally and metaphorically, symbolizes a stripping away of inhibitions and a willingness to be truly vulnerable with each other. The repeated affirmation of eternal love and the plea not to break the heart underscore the fragility and preciousness of the bond they share, making "Getaway" a heartfelt ode to the transformative power of love and escapism.

A bit of a story/potential update foreshadowing.

when the auto shop/chop shop update got released, it was a sigh of relief. I've been playing SOLO and making all of my business sales solo at max product capacity.

Honestly, I'm worn out from grinding businesses/sightseer/import/export.

It was a 10 year slug fest, promising my self to not stoop to
micro transactions, but with GTA 6 in 2 years time on the horizon, I better steel my self for what kind of a grind fest may be incoming.

In the meantime, enjoying the non grind life, for now, til R* nerfs the hell out of the enemies/payouts.
(God forbid an update to make the salvage casino heist a bona fide 2 or 4 player heist.

At that point I'm done, just going to let my nightclub do all the money gathering.

Cayo perico got scuttled, salvage truck heist is not long on R* list of things to nerf to bring back the painful micro transaction inducing grind.
