Z-RO was born Joseph Wayne McVey IV in Houston's South Park neighborhood on January 19, 1977.[5] At age six his mother died, and he was shuttled from household to household in search of stability, eventually settling in the Ridgemont area, a middle-class suburb in Missouri City in Southwest Houston.[5] When Z-Ro reached his late teens he was unemployed and resorted to drug dealing and hustling on the streets.[5] According to Z-Ro, listening to the music of 2Pac, Geto Boys, Street Military, K-Rino and Klondike Kat inspired him to work harder for his goal of leaving the streets.[5] Z-Ro discovered his talent of freestyle rapping and after going through a couple of recording studios to make a demo,[5] the CEO of a local label discovered and signed him.
Z-Ro released his critically acclaimed Rap-a-Lot debut titled The Life of Joseph W. McVey.[5][6] The record was a huge success and helped expand Z-Ro's and Bobby Craig's fan base beyond the South.[5] In 2005, Z-Ro released Let the Truth Be Told, which was well received.[5] Z-Ro's 2006 album I'm Still Livin' was released while he was imprisoned for drug possession, to positive reviews.[7][8] It was called "a great album... powerful" but "relentlessly bleak" by The Village Voice[7] and "one of the best rap albums to come out of Houston" by the Houston Chronicle.[9] In 2010 he released the album titled Heroin, which was followed by an album titled Meth in 2011 and then Angel Dust in 2012.
Z-Ro released his first EP under The Mo City Don titled Tripolar on August 25, 2013 via One Deep Ent.[2] Z-Ro then followed up with The Crown in June 2014.[10] In February 2015, Z-Ro released his first proper studio album in three years, titled Melting the Crown.
In 2016, Z-Ro released Drankin & Drivin in August[11] and Legendary in November under his label One Deep Entertainment.

Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
And would my niggas still be my niggas
If I didn't pay for everythang?
Ain't no love, love, love, love
Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
If I didn't pay for everythang? (Uh)
Told the bitch not to do it but the bitch did it anyway
Then she wonder why when she talk to me I'm like, "Anyway..."
"Are you walkin' away from me, Joseph?" I'm like, "Bitch, anyway"
Break up with me then, to me, I was still single anyway
We ain't engaged, we just engage, that's it
Make sure you cum after I come; I'm on my way, that's it
And the same time tomorrow we can do it again
Make love to you or fuck the shit out you and ya friend
15 years old, I was already keepin' it real
And 22 years later, that's how I'm keepin' it still
Definition of an OG, baby, you should already know
I don't want no ass, gimme my cash, I'm out the do'
Ain't no love
Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
And would my niggas still be my niggas
If I didn't pay for everythang?
Ain't no love, love, love, love
Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
And would my niggas still be my niggas
If I didn't pay for everythang?
I wish a bitch even act like she gon' touch my phone
Knock her ass out, I hope I don't fuck up my phone
She wanna know if her homegirls' numbers fill up my phone
So, many relationships would end, if I give up my phone
Niggas would be so mad at me but they stay mad at me anyway
Sayin' what they gon' do to Z-Ro, Z-Ro be like, "Anyway"
Get rich or get rich, fuck dyin', I'm like, "Anyway"
Can't even concentrate on fuckin', I'm like, "Bitch, anyway"
Get the fuck up off me, hoe, I'm a mother fuckin' hustler
No disrespect but I need to be with my customers
I'm addicted to blue bills, Macallan 18 and a few pill
Ain't never gave a fuck about what the world
Doin' and I promise that's what I do still
Ain't no love
Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
And would my niggas still be my niggas
If I didn't pay for everythang?
Ain't no love, love, love, love
Do she really love me or the fame?
Ain't no love
And would my niggas still be my niggas
If I didn't pay for everythang?

In the song "Ain't No Love," Z-RO explores the theme of love and loyalty. He questions the intentions of his significant other and wonders if she is with him for his fame or true love. He also questions the loyalty of his friends and whether they would still be by his side if he stopped paying for everything. The lyrics convey Z-RO's strong personality, where he doesn't show any vulnerability to anyone and stands strong on his own. He doesn't care about what people think of him and is focused on making his money.
The lyrics also depict Z-RO's passion for keeping it real and being authentic. He asserts the importance of remaining true to oneself, no matter how long it has been. He highlights the significance of staying committed and focused on one's goals and never bending to please anyone else.
The song has a melancholic and contemplative tone, and Z-RO's delivery adds to the emotional weight of the lyrics. He raps with a slow and deliberate pace, allowing the listener to absorb the poignant message behind the lyrics.
