ZO2’s obvious talent and charisma has been opening doors for them from the start. Within weeks of their debut independent release, “Tuesdays & Thursdays”, the band was on the main stage opening for Kiss and Poison on their entire 40 city national, VH1 sponsored tour where the toughest audiences in the world embraced them with standing ovations every night. And that year, legendary music magazine, Hit Pararder, featured ZO2 as the only unsigned band to be included in the magazine’s “Year in Metal” issue. Hot on the heels of those impressive accolades, ZO2’s next CD, “Ain’t It Beautiful”, was instantly praised in Metal Edge Magazine when they wrote “It’s music that you’ll want to play loud, sing along to and memorize all at the same time.” And New York’s authority on music, The Village Voice, stated, “…ZO2 has given New York its groove back.”
The Brooklyn-based trio is tireless in support of their music and will stop at nothing to get the word out, combining standard methods of recording and endless touring with an entirely new promotion tool – television.
ZO2 brought their name and music to homes everywhere in August, 2008 when “Z Rock” premiered on IFC (Independent Film Channel) as the network’s highest rated original series. Critics and audiences alike are excited by the fresh concept and hilariously real storylines. The Hollywood Reporter declared, “Bottom Line: It’s the smart, hip, edgy and sublimely amusing take on struggling musicianship that “Flight of the Concords” is not.” Touted as “based on a (kinda) true story”, the 10-episode comedy series features guest stars such as rockers Dave Navarro, John Popper and Sebastian Bach along with notable comedians including Dave Attell, Gilbert Gottfried and Greg Giraldo. Joan Rivers appears in a recurring role with series’ regulars, Lynne Koplitz and Jay Oakerson.. And in June, 2009, IFC rolled out another riotous season of “Z Rock” with even more mayhem, brand new music and exciting new guest stars such as Daryl Hall, Warren Sapp and Chris Jericho, among others.
The band recently released their third CD, Casino Logic, ZO2 brings a harder edge and tighter grooves to the 11 track disc. And, in true ZO2 tradition, the CD is a hands on effort from the band with lead vocalist Paulie Z providing design and art direction and the inclusion of one of four customized playing cards in every CD, each featuring a bandmember or an image of the full band as a fun collectable addition for their dedicated fans.
Each time ZO2 achieves success, they prove what we already know: the rock community is still thriving, hungry and begging for more.
And what does ZO2 mean? Clearly, it’s the formula for rock ‘n roll.
ZO2 consisting of Paulie Z on lead vocals and guitar, Joey Cassata on drums and Sean McNabb on bass have unveiled a video for the title track of their upcoming 27-song (two CD set) album 'Begin Again, which will be released via Kivel Records on December 5, 2023.'
This also marks McNabb‘s debut with the band who replaced David Z (also known as David Zablidowsky) who tragically passed away when a tractor-trailer struck Adrenaline Mob‘s RV while the band was en route to a concert at the State Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida, USA on July 14, 2017. Zablidowsky was also part of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra from 2000 to 2006 and again from 2010 until the time of his death. He also played on ZO2‘s albums Tuesdays & Thursdays (2004), Ain’t It Beautiful (2007) and Casino Logic (2009).

I see a light off in the distance a long long way from town
Half a mile later I?m knockin? on the door
She answered in her cut offs and my jaw just hit the floor
She said ?you look so cold, why not come inside??
I think I just struck gold
(Chorus)
No way out, it?s too good to believe
No way out, when morning came I wish I never would?ve met her
Now here comes daddy with a gun in hand
And I don?t think he?s gonna understand
I take off through the front yard hear ?em pump that ole 12 gauge
She says daddy don?t you shoot him, but don?t let him get away
I run into the sheriff, hallelujah I?ve been saved, he says:
?Where you think you?re goin? son, we got plans for you today?
She said ?get on your knees? - think I?m in trouble now
?You?re gonna marry me? - I?ve gotta get away somehow
Can?t go off in the night, ?cause poppa?s gun just might
(Chorus)
No way out, a voice in my head said you should?ve known better
No way out, I can never leave
No way out, help me Lord I wish I never would?ve met her
And daddy?s sitting with a gun in hand
He said ?The preacher?s comin? just as fast as he can?
No way out, a voice in my head said you should?ve known better
No way out, ooooh, I was no naïve
No way out, help me Lord I wish I never would?ve met her
A lesson learned and it goes to show
Don?t break down on an old back road
The song "No Way Out" by ZO2 begins with the singer stranded on a deserted back road with his broken ride. Seeing a light in the distance, he ends up at the doorstep of a beautiful woman who invites him in, and he immediately gets smitten by her. However, things take an unexpected turn for him as he realizes that he's in trouble when the woman's father comes out with a gun, demanding that he marries her. The singer tries to escape, but his efforts are in vain, and he finds himself trapped in a dangerous situation from which there seems to be no escape.
The song's lyrics take you through the singer's unfortunate experience, encapsulating emotions of love, desperation, and fear, that ultimately lead him to wish he never met the woman in the first place. The chorus repeatedly underscores the fact that there's no way out of the predicament he's found himself in, and the singer laments his naïve judgment that led him down this path. Through this story, ZO2 offers listeners a cautionary tale of the perils of getting entangled in situations that seem too good to be true, and the importance of trusting their gut instincts.
