Free At Last
Zach Taylor Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where you go I will go
What you say I will say
I will stand with you Lord
If you will show me the way

Until the day you return to your throne
All the voices we raise will make it known
That we are free at last
Free at last
We are forever separated from our past
Free at last
Free at last
Together all Gods people sing we are free at last

What you pray I will pray
And where you are I belong
What you see I wanna see
'Cause where you are is where I wanna be
Until the day you return to your throne
All the voices we raise will make it known

That we are free at last
Free at last
We are forever separated from our past
Free at last
Free at last
Together all Gods people sing we are free at last

And we'll sing
Hallelujah
And we'll sing
Hallelujah

We are free at last
We're free at last
We are forever separated from our past
We're free at last
We're free at last
Together all Gods people sing we are free at last
Together all Gods people sing we are free at last
Together all Gods people sing

We are free at last
We are free at last

Overall Meaning

The song "Free at Last" by Zach Taylor Band expresses a deep devotion to God and a commitment to following His ways. The verses convey a sense of loyalty and obedience, as the singer pledges to go wherever God leads and to speak His words. The chorus celebrates the freedom that comes from being separated from one's past and united with God. The lyrics emphasize the joy and unity of God's people as they sing together in praise of their newfound freedom.

The choice of words in the song is very significant. The repetition of "free at last" drives home the notion that God's people have been set free from the chains of their past and the world. The phrase "where you go I will go" is taken directly from the Book of Ruth in the Bible, where Ruth pledges her loyalty to her mother-in-law Naomi. This reference implies that the singer's commitment to God is as strong as that of Ruth to Naomi and adds a layer of depth and meaning to the song.

Overall, "Free at Last" is a heartfelt expression of devotion to God and the joy and freedom that comes from being in His presence.

I play this song on loop. I'll be 72 march 28. I am rich beyond your wildest dreams. I started out from a small rural town in ky. At 18 I started hitchhiking and have been to many countries but of all the places I've been to and all the beautiful people I have met lovers I've had sunsets I've watched the sun coming up while listening to the ocean beat against the shore lying naked in the sand. Hitching a ride to boulder and walking up on past Estes park into the mountains. It was springtime and the bite of winter blew hard at nite while the sun was almost hot during the day. I found a small cave by a stream way up high snow still cover the earth. I put an old army blanket over the entrance while watching the fire I'd made jump around and listened to the wind howl thru the trees. I had a child at 26 and raised him the best I could. He has his doctorate in law and doesn't speak to me he says for self preservation. I was so in love with that little boy and gave him the world but it was my world not his. Our children are from us not of us. Was so heartbreaking. I will always remember him as my little boy and I moved on living in my old jeep with my boxer the love of my life. I've seen the world and I've seen our county change. Kids today don't have a clue what the word free means but I do and I would die to save this dirt that i love from sea to the mountains to the ocean shores. May God help us keep her. Thank you zb for making my heart sing and remember what life has been about for this old woman with such a young heart!!

That was so beautiful.... There is something I have to ask you though...
How did you avoid getting sand-burn on your "down-under" region when you were doing it on the beach???
