Through the Storm
Zakynthines Fones of Montreal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's been all enough for me
I've seen it all before
I've heard it all before
Time to move on to a better place
This feels like a cage, there is no more space
Just like a bird, I long to be free
That's how this life was meant to be
Through the storm, in the sharp wind I go
Raging fire, driving rain, a wind hurricane
Days of sorrow are now gone,
I'll soon find my home
No, you cannot stop me now,
I am on my way
I might lose it all
But I want to take the shot
There's nothing you regret more
Than a chance you let go by
Time to move on to a better place
This feels like a cage, there is no more space
Just like a bird, I long to be free
That's how this life was meant to be
Through the desert,
Through the storm, in the sharp wind I go
Raging fire, driving rain, a wind hurricane
Days of sorrow are now gone,
I'll soon find my home
No, you cannot stop me now,
I am on my way
The lyrics of "Through the Storm" by Of Montreal depicts an individual's reflective realization that it is time to move on to a better place. The singer sings about feeling trapped and unfulfilled, yearning for the freedom to soar like a bird. The song uses natural disasters like raging fire, driving rain, and hurricane-like winds as a metaphor to represent the challenges in life that we all face. Through the storm, the singer remains resilient, determined, and optimistic, knowing that the difficult times will pass, and that they will soon find a safe haven to call home.

Translation:
I don't even know which way the wind is blowing from;
we are storm-tossed together with our black ship.
the waves are rolling
and we in the midst of them
are tossed about by the storm together with our black ship.
We are suffering from this great tempest;
we are storm-tossed together with our black ship.

@Yoel Armas Macías So what? Every Greek pronounces every period's Greek with the traditional contemporary historical pronunciation. Even Byzantine Greeks and Greeks in the Roman Empire did that with the older texts, using their contemporary pronunciation.
