Odem
Zarathustra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A Day with no night following
A Life no longer frightened by death

A life inside death itself
Death has overcome mortality

I have experienced the first death
And the second I shall not feel

My blood is the water
My dust is the earth
My judgements are fire
My mind the storm

Innermost yearnings
For absolute annihilation
Life is jsut a dream
Of my seventh dimensional death

Magnificent in death
I will disperse men into nothing
My last Odem brings me back to my primordial matter

These dreams in which I am dying are the best I have ever had
And they lead me into temptation

Overall Meaning

The first two lines of the song "Odem" by Zarathustra talk about a day without a night and a life without fear of death. This could be interpreted as the state of enlightenment, where there is no fear of death, and one is free from the cycle of birth and death. The following lines suggest that death has eventually overcome mortality, and the singer has experienced the first death and does not fear the second one.

The next few lines of the song describe the elements that make up the singer's being. The water and earth represent the physical body, while judgement and mind represent the soul or consciousness. The lyrics then talk about the yearning for absolute annihilation, which could be interpreted as the desire to be free from the constraints of the physical world and to merge with the divine consciousness.

The final lines of the song talk about the singer's final odem, which brings them back to their primordial matter. The line "these dreams in which I am dying are the best I have ever had" could be interpreted as the desire to achieve spiritual liberation, even if it means leaving the physical body behind.
